Will carriers be able to move in a dogfight map I wonder http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Imagine the fun to be had by sinking the red teams base or trying to take off from a boat with a list. Even if they cant be made to move around a DF map it still leaves room for some tasty co op fun.

I build COOPs for CrazyIvan. If you would like some of them you can get them at http://www14.brinkster.com/triggerhappy770/default.htm

I/JG1 Oesau is recruiting axis pilots who prefer to fly maximum realism. We accept both veterans and rookies. We fly in VEF2, VOW and may join other online wars in the future. Go to our forums at http://www.jg1-oesau.org/ for more details and to apply.

I dont think your going to find too much footage of aircraft being launched during listing to one side or the other, but you will see aircraft timing thier launch with the up and down motion of the deck so they dont launch into a oncomming wave.lol

i have F-18 Korea, which includes carrier ops.

I set up a mission in which I was defending a carrier.

But by the time I taxied into place and locked my wheel into the catapult, the enemy had already landed a few large missiles on the other end of the carrier.

So the ship was destroyed, and sinking, with me still locked into a catapult that was pointing more and more upwards.

I figured, what the hell?, and hit the catapult release command. It worked, and instead of zooming into the air horizontally, I went up at about a 30 degree angle, stalled, recovered, and then killed those damn bombers that got my boat.

It will be interesting to see what Oleg and team do with this.
In Lock On Modern Air Combat, you can host a Coop Mission then run it Online like a DF server, which means the carriers move while players come and go from the Game.
I actualy asked the Question in Olegs ready room a little while ago about weather they could do this for Carriers, in a 1C Sim.
So I guess we will have to wait and see.

Cheers

That may well be true and the same could be said about footage of aircraft taking off perpendicular to the runway or from a taxiway but you see plenty of that in a DF server http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Hehe, sadly so.

What I wonder is how the sinking of a carrier will be handled? If it (or they) goes down, and no other land bases remain... does the map end?

Will the carriers just keep respawning over and over? I'd imagine a support group surrounding the carrier, providing flak coverage would be necessary. Who knows how they'll handle it.

no cross-field takesoffs now, you pilots will have to behave yourselves on carrier takeoffs

I suspect there will be two versions of each carrier, sinkable and invincible. Sinkables will be in COOPs and offline while invincible ones will be used for DF servers. This is of course just a guess though.
