This is just a reminder to all the people who downloaded a pirate copy of AEP (like me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)to go out and buy the game, now that it is available in Europe!

I've got my copy right next to me and it felt kind of stupid buying a game I already had but if you want to see more quality games like this then you have to pay for them.

Plus I also went and bought UT 2004 (yes I like mindless FPS games too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif) so that was a nice 50 spent, now I have to go out and get drunk with a friend who I haven't seen in 2 years so I'll probably be spending even more money tonight http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well AEP might have included alot of new stuff, but I still fly 190. Untill they stop neutering it, AEP was just a waste of money http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif.

I bought the Gold Pack, even though I already have Forgotten Battles specifically for the reason you gave : to support Oleg and his teammembers and see more hi-quality stuff from them in the future. It's a small price to pay for all the enjoyment I've received.

And Xnomad, being a fan of 'mindless FPS' isn't too bad. I, on the other hand, am also a fan of Role Playing Games (Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind). http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Neutered?? The 190 is one of the toughest birds to take down.... not like the 109s..that you can flame witha few well placed shots up front... the 190 seems tougher than the Jug. The thing rolls like a marble.... its fast...dives very well.... What is neutered about it? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

He's talking about the general E retention and E qualities of the series. In a large sense many people feel that some of the historical attributes of the 190 are not present in FB and some things have gotten worse with AEP.

I'm on the fence myself about most issues, I still like the 190 as much or more than ever. But what a lot of FW pilots feel about AEP is that with the change in energy modelling, the 190's are now at a big handicap and require even more altitude for effective tactics. With the addition of the global change in the apparent effectiveness of the guns in AEP, BnZ is becoming problematic for lots of people.

I think that what has a lot of people upset is that it appears that there is a shift in physics that favors the TnB AC and in general hurts AC that depend on effective use of energy to be successful.

As I said, I'm on the fence myself, though I will say from experience in AEP that the D9 is much more difficult to be successful in than it was in 1.22. I haven't changed as far as I can tell, I'm still the same old me, so something seems to be different in AEP.

This difference might be what is causing a lot of hard feelings over the FW, since it generally depends so much on energy to be successful in.

I dont particularly like flame wars, (although you seem to want to bait me dispite my valid point) im just fustrated. There are lots of realistic things about the 190, like its roll rate, good high speed and lousy low speed handling.

However, being out climbed and out ran by a P51B is not realistic. The half blocked Revi sight is not realistic and bleeding E from every oriface is questionable.

I have every right to feel ripped off if (at least after the patch) the bias that remains isnt delt with.

almost done reading JG26 TOP guns of the luftwaffe book, its like Fw's was best planes in WW2, they also say that FW190-A8 was able to outrun and outdive any allide a/c.....

Consider this....

Divide the number of hours spent enjoying this sim against the cost and it works out at about one penny a week.

Where else can you get this value outside of marriage??

Don't go there...or even think about it.

Exactly oleg86. Its a struggle to outrun anything in the 190 atm because it accelerates like an ocean liner (and climbs like a brick).

I`m a big UT fan (still have the original), but I was put off by its `dumbing` down in 2003 and no assault!? How dare they. But they`ve redressed all that in 2004 (which I too have just bought- unfortunately no time to try it yet. maybe at the weekend).

Too bad Mudmovers is down, but they had there a Q & A with Oleg where he states that he didn't put too much emphasis on what he termed "pilot recalls" on the various aircraft they flew during the war, when developing the game, and instead relied on empirical evidence. Because to each pilot the aircraft he flew was always the best plane of WW II.

Squirrel, if you're not fast in the 190 and nme is near then face it you screwed up.

If you are not fast and they are not right close then get the nose down in a slight dive with power up but not into complete heat generation. Stay in the shallow dive until you are over 450kph or higher and then work into a shallow climb but keep speed over 400kph and more is better. Fast moving brick completely outflies slow moving brick. No?

Pay good attention to rudder, trim and your slip indicator (the ball). Learn all you can about flying clean. Do not make nose high turns unless they are wingovers or hammerheads. Else make nos elow turns that start with cutting throttle and then bringing throttle up. Learn which direction your torque favors in turns if you want to get the last extra bit out but don't let that make you predictable in combat.

The 190 still may not live to your expectations and I expect that. But flown right there's a lot of people posting how well they do. If they *can* then you should be able too unless you have some problem that prevents you and then it's not the sim, is it?

Rebel: If you think a P51B can out dive a FW190 A9, think again.

Thank you MaxGunz, good post as always.

The more I practice the better i get, but as you say, you cant always avoid said screw ups.

You will note that the book Oleg86 referenced in his post said the FW190A-8 was faster and outdove all allied aircraft. Since the 51, 47, and even 38 were all faster and all outdove it, I had to point that out.

Havent had the time to check for it, have been busy with school and work since october ( yay...14 hour days!)...

BTW, read a review from Franz Stigler in an old aviation history magazine, He said that the FW 190 was much more easy to fly than the Me 109...and much more forgiving in flight, perfectly balanced controls, light on the stick, a superb dogfighter at high and low speeds...that most of the fw downed in the final half of the war were flown by inadequately trained pilots with little or no combat experience or converted from the bomber ranks...somehow his description does not match with what we have on FB...but again, I havent flown one in real life to comment on my own, so anything floating around there is merely a speculation.

Absolutely spot on. Of late I have been exploring FMB and have discovered the wonder of war at sea. A few weeks before that I was heavily involved in watching the mudmovers go at each other. Hell, there are planes I have not even flown yet and several careers I could start not to mention building a Spanish Civil War mission or twelve.

Have you flown any of the missions from the BoB as created by Extreme One and (I am so sorry that I have forgotten this name P-something)? The sound track so well done and immersive.

As someone who started flying stick figure things on a Commodore 64.... I am a happy flyer and will not need another Flight Sim.

.... at least until Oleg releases BoB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Cheers to all.
