Those guys at the TX squadron are getting their server back up and I just wanted to write a forum post about the very excellent time that I had last night.

TX-Zen put the full sized server up last night for a test run on Hyperlobby. It was an excellent game with members of the 361st, Zen, and a number of other players who came online and we had some very good times dogfighting in what amounted to P-51's against FW190D-9's and several other types mixed in for good measure. An extremely challening set of dogfights with these guys, excellent manners, and a really enjoyable time.

Thanks everyone for having that...hopefully we'll see more of this server and that kind of attitude in the future!

S~ Ice,

Thanks for the kind words http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think we're ready to rock and roll, got all the little kinks worked out of the new hardware and FBD is running properly.

Last night was great, the 361st were challenging opponents and as you said, the professionalism was extraordinary. Salute to the 361st (Eagle, Maple Tiger and others) for being such awesome guest and to the others who flew and made the server so much fun to be on.

I had a good time winging with you Ice, we got into some tough fights...you can fly that D9 like a pro http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

S! to all and thanks once again for those who flew on our server, hope to see you all again.

(and yes, we'll get some new maps up lol, that winter Stalingrad has been my favorite since IL2)

Props to the TX-OC3 server. I've missed it. And you guys have missed me, the easy target I am...

S~ all,

I prefer locked cockpit and no externals honestly, but in the interest of gameplay I think externals are going to stay on.

Two main reasons are the inclusion of AI aircraft (until the PE8, B17 and BF110 become flyable) and the static camera points used to check on the ground target objectives. Ultimately the server is intended for fun and for all to have a good time using teamwork to accomplish the mission objectives, I find that with AI planes the fun factor goes up and with externals on there is a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere that is conducive to having an enjoyable evening.

Padlock is disabled to prevent external view abuse of it, but apparently I forgot to get every single one of those darned check marks. Doh! (/me avoids the harsh looks from Sunburst)

I do thank you guys again for flying there. It's always nice to get positive feedback. You may have noticed the same map rotating over and over, that is still my favorite map of all time and one that brings back fond memories.

Expect to see a new range of missions based on a quasi historical 45 plane set soon, I've begun working on the first one tonight after finally getting some time to sit down and get my thoughts together. Been pretty busy lately with the holidays. Comments and suggestions welcome, if there are styles of missions you'd like to see drop by the TX website and let me know. If anyone has created FBD scripted missions with balanced ground objectives, I'll be happy to host them with proper credit to the author as well, we're aiming for a good all around server like the old days, so feel free to contribute if you like. Keep in mind that the plane sets need to be historical and that most people prefer late war though I am partial to mid war battles myself.

BS87, I have the rope in my truck. Hold on tight, I like to fly really really fast http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

get rid of externals. I havent seen your server full but greatergreen is constantly full, in fact i sometimes have to wait at the join screen. I joined ur server today and only 15 people were in it, the map was huge, and honestly it was boring because there werent enough people and/or map too big. not to be negative or put you down just giving honest opinion.we need another GG and if you could get stats somehow that would rule. good job so far on ur server.

You would likely have more players with padlock on and externals off, rather than externals on and padlock off.

Good suggestion, thanks for the feedback, S~

I think GG is doing fine, always been a good server. With the TX-OC3 just returning to HL, naturally it will take time to build up the steady regulars, so to see less people on ours than GG or other servers to me is perfectly natural.

As I said, I prefer locked pit and no externals, but lots of people don't. They like the option for AI planes and to look at skins etc...we're here to help make the game fun, not necessarily to ride the cutting edge of realism. (Though I personally would really enjoy that, I like the Blazing Magnum 'full switch' server quite a bit)

That being said, I really do appreciate feedback and take it seriously. We have to balance between the hardcore and the not so hardcore, I think there are enough great FR and close to FR servers out there as it is and don't see a need to add another I guess.

S~~

It's called TX-OC3

I've known Zen for a while now, and I am very pleased to see the TX server back online. I agree with Zen that the server settings are a nice blend for the hardcore and the casual flyer. The problem isn't that there aren't enough FR servers online... the problem is there simply aren't enough high-speed dedicated servers period. However, the ones that do exist seem to do a great job, and waiting to connect really isn't that bad. At worst I have sat for 5-10 mins waiting to connect to a server. Not a big deal...

And a big thumbs up to the TX server. They run it right. They care about it. And their missions are very team-oriented and original. Check it out! (if you haven't already).

Thanks,
Sammie

Just an FYI - we go even further on our own machines - we edit the config file. Taking all HUD off the screen. It really adds to the game. HUD - is the info displayed on the right side of the screen - throttle %, prop pitch etc...

Some of us even mod that file so that ICONs, SpeedBar etc.. will not display in servers that allow it.

BTW - I used to fly in the TX server a long time ago. You guys always had some good maps!

Hope to see ya around. If not on your server maybe on ours.
