havnt read many posts in here so if this has been discussed already I apologize

But with carries:

Will they be available in dogfight maps (I hope so)

If availabe in dogfights will you be able to plot a carrier course?

If the carries is sunk, will there be a respawn period like other equipment.

The reason I ask about carriers in dogfights is that it will for the first time add something that is not really possible in FB to this level; complex strategy.

Dont get me wrong this game is great but the strategy aspect is somewhat linear, even with scripted df maps or coops.

Indulge me for a second but imagine a dogfight map that begins with two carries task forses on the open sea. Planes begin there takeoff but some must carefully prepare as enemy carrier attack plans, fighter escort or protection of their own carrier. Becuase if you do not coordinate your attack carefully the enemy will attack and destroy your carrier and your base, your landing strip, your survival, will be gone....

sounds like fun ehh.

I think it was stated that carriers will not move, but will be available in DFs. It kinda sucks that they can't move, but being in DFs is the more important thing IMHO.

The question is, will they be destroyable, and if so, how, and what will happen during and after?

If you get torp'd, will the ship start to list and make take off and landing more difficult?

Will the decks be damagable to the point where either T.O. or recovery is no longer possible?

So many tantalizing possibilities. I really hope it doesn't get short changed.

It would bring vulching to a whole new level too. lol

Would this not possibly require the integration of VB's and TB's as part of each forces AG.

So far, it seems that most of the concern is about fighters. I hardly every see anyone include the TB's and DB's in their discussions, as part of a combined attack force.

Now, what I would like to see is something done about being able to re-arm and re-fuel after landing on the carriers or land bases without having to leave the game a come back in, as we do now.

Yes, we know that. The question is how will carriers be implemented in DF scenarios? While this may not be important for the majority of players who play offline, it is vitally important to those of us who also play online.

Carriers can't move ?? Awwww, that's all part and parcel of having carriers. They need to move, they can't be static. Part of the mission was finding your carrier and the basis of the game, is getting your plane back home and and and fundamental to takeoff on the decks as the length they are is having that 30Kt wind, also for approach
and and and and

Can you imagine the chaos that will rein on a DF server? Unless Luthier and Oleg can find a way to "meter" people out onto the carrier deck, so as to prevent them from spawning on top of each other, you won't live long enough to start your engines, let alone get launched.

But, after they get that figured out (and I'm sure they will), think of a scripted DF server, with no minimap path enabled. This will somewhat make up for the carriers not moving. You'll really have to keep track of your own movements in order to find your way back to your carrier - assuming it's still there when you get back!

Think of the possibilities to replay the great carrier battles like Coral Sea and Midway. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

They just *have* to the ability move and receive damaged. Otherwise they are just floating airfields.....might as well use an island. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

That will certainly be the case for coops, but I don't think we will be seeing that in a DF server. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

well even if the carries just sit in DF maps its still gonna be a blast.

Cant waite!!!!

My first real flight sim was Hellcats over the Pacific running on my MacIIsi back in 1990. Even though it was simple shapes it was intense. The aspect of taking off from carriers, finding enemy carriers and dropping your pickle squarly on the flight deck while get hit by AA rounds is something I have will never forgot.
