According to Sandman (Yank):

Quote: 'fly a real plane. fly american. they take much more effort to get a kill.'

Does this mean that all those times ive been flying JPN, GBR, German and Russian planes, ive actually been flying NooB planes all along!

God Damn!!

time to fire up the Jug and get some respect...

English lesson 101:
The word is 'Lose' not 'Loose'. e.g.
That IL2 is gonna lose the fight against that 109.
That IL2's wing looks loose, its gonna fall off.
If i dive too vertically i will lose my wing. k thx.

being an expert in n00bplane avionics, I can soundly say you are correct in your assumptions.

This Sandman must be a Japanese spy, luring you into flying the inferior american planes so he can get an easy kill with his P-51skinned KI.

I don't know if you could say USAAF planes take more "skill", but they certainly are more rugged than the other planes in the game. Last night I got clobbered while in my P-38, performing ground attack - 20mm flak and a Fw-190 shot me to pieces but I still managed to get home! That's the quality of the American planes. I do think they take more patience to fly than other planes though... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

On the serious side, I have been observing some things online related to this discussion.

On GG most of the better OKL pilots don't do as well when they get into US aircraft. I usually see the players with the highest score being FW-190a9 drivers. Why? The OKL planes with the MK108 are like the great white sharks in the game, offensively speaking. They swoop down and blow the hell out of you. They have speed to extend and run for clouds. The German planes have everything a BNZ'er could ask for - Speed, Heavy hitting, good zoom climb.

The American planes although tough, don;t have the teeth. They can hardly be called Great whites, they are more like Tiger sharks. It actually takes alot more skill to get many kills in a plane armed with .50 cals. Even more so now with the new dispersion, you have to really be spot on with your aim.

I think that if you are able to get lots of kills with .50 cals on US planes, when you fly OKL you will be getting tons of kills. It is not the other way around.

Don't know how many times I have Boomed in a P-51 only to score hits but not enuff to kill or cripple and they guy manages to sneak into cloud..... I always think that if I was in my Wurger, wouldn;t have been that way.

Yep, nanuk, this is why I took a P51 out and bagged 3 planes in the first flight, followed by 2 in a P40 on the next run out. All this after having a shocking evening in the 190 where I'd managed to miss pretty much everything I'd taken a pot at.

I, like you, had to laugh at Sandman's comment.

Cheers,

american planes have super view . german planes have super guns. there are trade offs and this thread is not addressing the positives of p51 in fullreal which make it a much easier plane to survive in than LW planes...for your average pilot.....

theres a reason half the time i go into warclouds its 16 mustangs vs 5 fws. and its the view

Geez since we Americans shot more of them down then they did us wouldn't "IN THEORY" (not literally) make our planes easier to fly?
I'm a full blooded proud American, and I'll admit even that is pretty ignorant.

Kalo your full of it
so thats why you make somany kills in your P51 ?
your P51 outruns outturns outclimbs a FW190
and all you have to do is spray behind the FW pit and hes down in 3 mins ,you can do that in ONE pass with that sniper K14 site of yours
what if the P51 pilot is not a n00b and flys at the same alt as the FW190 ? RIGHT you dont see that happen to often http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
you can take out any Luftplane in one pass in a stang, but if you dont rip him apart that doesnt mean hes capable of fighting on
Besides i fly the dora and i remember our little 1on1 where you tried to avoid an headon with me on the last moment and thats one of the biggest mistakes you can do against a FW190 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

anyway take a P47 for a change now that plane can take out a FW190 in one pass.
but i guess its to hard for you ?

There are no aces...just pilots.

You don't get any more respect for flying a Jug than you do a La-7 really. If you shoot someone down in a Jug they wonder if you are cheating...if you do the same to someone in a La-7 they think that Oleg's cheating...you can't win with these people http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Fly what you like, practice with it, and become proficient. I fly for all sides, all aircraft (except medium bombers for the most part), and I have the distinct impression that no side has the best plane...only good aircraft with different styles. Generally the Spitfire suits me best...the Mustang, Thunderbolt, and FW190 are in the close runnings. Different planes for different people...

Eh, well, I'm a bomber pilot mostly (IL-2s), but I flew a coop a little while ago in a Jug escorting C-47s, with 190s intercepting.

I ended the mission with 3 human kills, and one guy who an AI stole off me, and a Ju-87 that was on it's way down when the mission was closed.

This was on 2.01. I got on the guy's 6, moved to 190-200m (my convergence) and let fly, and I tore these aircraft to pieces!!!!

.50s have always seemed adequate for me, PROVIDED the aircraft I am shooting at is within, or at my convergence game!! I fly P-40s a lot, and I have never had problems getting kills when I've been on a guy so long as he's in range.

In a P-51, same deal, in the proper range that blue boy is dead meat!!!

(although, for some odd reason, the .50s of the P-40 did seem to have less spread than the P-51, which I thought was weird, but anyway, tis not important)

Anyway, that's my piece said.

Yeah, I hear ya. IMHO, if you have the patience to fly a FW up to 6000k, circle around for someone to bounce, hit him as he breaks and then make a successful extension and re-establish your perch, you deserve to have a plane go down in one pass. Happened a lot in real life, from what I've read.

But Sandman might have a point - the real trick in a FW isn't getting kills, it's staying alive long enough to land. In a FW, if you're co-equal in energy with a Spit, P51, P63 and P47, you better start looking for some clouds. Without E, FWs are big, easy targets.

I had a long one-on-one engagement with a fairly skilled P-63 pilot the other night, and won. He was clearly not happy. I suspect he's used to hammering FWs when there's no one around to help out.

I have recently started flying the 190 a lot and have to say its much easier than getting a kill with a p51 or spit and making it home. Thrown those 30mm's in the wings on the A-8 or 9, get some altitude and keep your speed up and its like shooting ducks in a barrel... get into some trouble drop the nose and head for a cloud or some help. Don't get greedy and you won't get a scratch.

German aircraft take much more skill to survive in then Allied planes. Take for example, a Bf-109K-4 against the array of Allies out there on the Western Front...

P-47's are fast, hard hitting, great zoomers, and can turn with you...Can take 10-15 Mk-108 shots plus several 20mm hits before going in.
P-51's are just frigging uber at times, ammunition sponges at others
P-38's suck up Mk-108's as if they enjoy the abuse

Spit's make nice Komet-climbs to catch you as you zoom, and turn like a Zero to get thier guns on you

But, still, a German pilot who knows what he's doing, what his enemy is doing, what to do next, and all the performance details of his and his target's plane, should be able to old his own, and maybe win a few.
