I keep hearing about voice packs with brittish accents. If this is true how can i get'em and do they have german and Russian accent versions? That would be fantastic to have. I hate reading about what the hell is happening in a dog fight.

British accents are available...use the FIND feature...

In terms of German and Russian accent, there is a BBQ Language Soundpack that has either German or Russian accented English. This replaces the voices spoken by AI in German or Russian with English as spoken by a German or Russian. There is therefore a nice heavy German or Russian accent... It will allow you to turn off the subtitles in the conf.ini file (found as a Notepad document) and allow for better immersion. The BBQ language pack can be found here:

http://www.darts-page.com/oth_files.htm

Other neat stuff: in game music can be added in the folder:

C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\samples\Music

either under the TakeOff, InFlight, or Crash folders.

One neat thing you might consider adding, instead of music, is radio chatter. Someone cleverly made some radio chatter filesto simulate on-going conversations on the radio, say from other flight squadrons in the air. Instead of music, you get a more realistic feel w/ other simulated conversations...

There is a ton of chatter files here:

http://pauke.ee.ethz.ch:8732/oberstguncam/SoundFiles/

I did none of this. Some very clever people did it all and deserve the credit due.

Be sure to do look for the british voice packs. they are quite excellent. Made by Exterme_One and Poymondo and Nikolai (THX-1138), I believe. There is also a Japanese voice pack...

See more details here: http://www.onemorewild.org/huxley/

And, as excerpted from this web-page:

These Campaign packs by Extreme_One & Poymando are essential additions to Forgotten Battles, featuring new missions, radio chatter, medals, skins and music for RAF, USAAF and Japan.
For more info, contact extreme_0ne@hotmail.com | poymando@hotmail.com

To install these campaigns simply run the installer and extract into your IL2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles folder. These campaigns require that you have upgraded Forgotten Battles to at least version 1.21 - upgrade patches are available from the IL2 Sturmovik web site http://www.il2sturmovik.com

Enhanced RAF speech pack
------------------------
This is the original RAF voicepack by Nikolai (a.k.a THX-1138) as found in Extreme_One & Poymando's RAF Campaign but has been reprocessed through various filters to give a more authentic "Radio Comms" sound.
Extract files and copy the GB folder into your IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\samples\Speech folder (back up the one that's in there first).

Mision packs aren't showing up for some reason. After i extract them i can find them in there but can't find them on the game. I have version 2.1 loaded also.

did you try single player missions? they may be included there... i'm not sure what's going on though. is it possible that they were made for FB and not updated/compatible for AEP/v2.1?
I haven't used it recently enough to know.

anyways, can you just find the speech files and transfer them in appropriately?

mission packs work fine for me, as do the voices pack. are you sure you extracted them in the right place?

I'm confused. How do all these 3rd party nation folders and voice packs work with each other ? IIRC we, so far, have :

USA folders by Extreme_One and in Battle Over Europe
RAF folders by Extreme_One and BOE (they're the same so not much of a problem there)
Japanese folders by Extreme_One and Gaston of Check-Six.fr
Italian folder by Gaston (don't know if there are any other Italian folders)
The new nation folders from AEP (don't know if a 3rd party has released folders of these nations).

Do I have to choose one or the other? It seems to me that just installing all of these "straight up" will result in a mish mash of folders, medals, ranks, & voice packs . http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/354.gif

You DO need to choose one or the other - if you try and install two different versions of the same nationality the last one you install will over-write the first.

Just stick with mine and you'll be OK. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

FYI - I'm releasing a new USAAF campaigbn soon which will be FULLY COMPATIBLE with BoE campaigns too - so no worries there. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for clearing that up, Extreme_One .

You also don't need to let on if you don't want to, but I'm also hoping you'll have future campaigns that have the AEP and patch aircraft included. I can't even imagine how you'll use the Spits in a campaign. Mmmm tasty.

Downloaded this from another site and I must say this is an extrmemly well put together campaign. I dont think it would have been the same without the Italian speechpack with it.

Is there an Italian voice pack?
And, if yes, where can I get it?

(German guys please take no offence, but I hate having Italian wingmen speaking German!)

Ciao & thanks!

In that page, look for the "italian campaign folder file" and download it. That is the package that contains both the italian voicepack (made by the italian IL-2 community) and a very nice campaign.
