Just wondering if anyone from ubisoft can confirm. Will we be able to customise the Centurion so that the face place can be removed, it just doesn't look right to me.

Most likely not. It seems that they want to cover the face of all their warriors in some shape or form...

It's an immersion thing I think. If you can't see their face, it can be "you." I mean... unless you're a dude-bushi, valk-bro, or phallus-keeper. Again I assumed you're a dude but hey... assumptions.

That's a shame, I much prefer the open face design of historical roman helmets.

His full armor set is more knight with some roman inspiration than it is historically roman. Which is good imo, a historical roman would look completely out of place in this game.

Historically the late era Romans were very much like Knights. Hell some say that the tradition of Knights came from the Romans. Historically the modern concept of the Knight came from Charlemagne, however he had to get his concepts from somewhere, right? ;)

also it means they don't have to animate mouths and facial expressions ;)

I think the concept behind covering the majority of the face of our heroes is that it makes them much more mysterious and menacing. It makes it feel a bit more immersive without having us give you a predefined face for your centurion. This could all change in the future though - who knows?

But in the meantime, if you need to put a face to the hero...

Disclaimer - I've never seen it so no idea if it's good or bad ;p

Historicaly late era Romans pretty much looked like the early period knight ( which was chainmail shirt with a shield and spatha - prolonged one handed sword)
That doesnt correspond with the late period of knights we currently have in game (in case of lawbringer the very late medieval/early renaissance period)

Im fine with his concept ...having a solid cuirass as lorica musculata hes got ....fits nicely
But so ....with this setup and without scutum ....hes more of a Praetorian than the Centurion lol...

Has there been an official announcement on the new heroes has there? I saw another thread talking about the release date, but can't find any info under the News & Announcements section.

Praetorian guard has traditionally been depicted with shields.

As far as OP goes. I think the mask is a better option than an open helmet. It allows for some more interesting designs like Tigris of Gaul, Looking glass knight or Legate Lanius.

So if you had a face then you would change out his helm but a team of with the same face wouldn't look right, it would look generic.

The idea with the face coverings is to reduce the feel of everyone being the same character. Look at the map intros with the minions, because they all wear masks they look like an army of people, rather than the same NPC copy and pasted.

So no, you'll never see his face.
