It was a tough choice between Riven and Uru, but it has to be Uru just for it's sheer breathtaking 3D worlds

ehh id havta say riven.. the storyline of it and how it fits into the books. its not like a hate uru but i think they could have made the storyline more exciting

Though, I've been with the series the whole time, i was very young when Riven and Myst were in their glory days.

I am partial to Exile because I beat that one on my own and i just loved it overall

Riven....loved the, "here ya go" feel...there you are, released from a cage..with NOTHING to go on....i solved more than half of the game, then lost my saves..i didn't go back to it for about a year...just couldn't do it..when i finally got back to it, i noticed that being color blind does not help in the gamehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Now, are we considering which incarnation of Myst? Original, Masterpiece, or realMyst?

Riven was so great because you felt like you were part of the story, a really exciting and engaging story. Maybe Uru will feel like that as more of the story unfolds. Hope so! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

DaDungeon was conflicted on this one . . .
Riven or URU . . .
URU or Riven?

Then The Mental Mob realized it was trying to decide which of two completely different "animals" it liked best.

URU is mind-blowing . . .
no doubt.

The online concept totally floats DaDungeon's boat!

But . . .
as far as 3-D graphics go . . .
the boxed URU game . . .
though georgeous . . .

(and DaDungeon would like to think it had a teeeeeeensy weeeeensy part in making it as oobah kewell gorgeous as it is)

did not mesemerize this player to the degree that a less well known . . .
less universally enjoyed PC adventure game . . .
SCHIZM . . .

The almost irresistible urge to want to TOUCH everything . . .
from a blade of foliage . . .
to a light fixture hanging overhead . . .
was diminished . . .
even missing in many places within URU.

It never seemed to leave while The Mob explored the intricacies of SCHIZM.

The eyes were indeed mesmerized in URU . . .

but the fingertips didn't twitch with the wanting to feel surroundings . . .
as they did in SCHIZM.

RIVEN . . .
on the other hand . . .
was not 3D . . .
it was a 2D slideshow style PC game.

Its visuals were static . .
except for artfully inserted movies at pivotal points of gameplay.

It was so very rich, though.

And even though 2D realism was the medium . . .
DaDungeon did indeed want to TOUCH stuff ALL OF THE TIME in RIVEN.

The game was a life-changer.
A hobby creator . . .
absolutely irresistible lure into the worlds of "MREDU" . . .

well at the time . . .
it was only "MR" . . .

and it was also enticing enough to make Tink's notoriously short attention span LOCK onto Cyan's games and books . . .

for coming up on seven years!

So . . .
fo now . . .
DaDungeon voted for RIVEN.

Inter-universal Headquarters for Guild of Doofi . . .
Where theedges between the real and the surreal are often blurred.

for what it's worth, RIVEN is so far with out question a ground breaking full on experience I have yet to regain.
URU while ok is not in RIVENs league full stop.
URU yeah nice vistas, puzzles are naff, stories naff, music's naff, all in fact compared to RIVENs.

URU online will I suspect just be another let down.
this is not a moan this is my opinion(poll)

disappointed! yeah you could say that.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Even though I haven't played Uru, I still feel that the beginning of it all was the most captivating and best one so far.
Cheers for Myst.
