That second tank seems made of paper. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Both are classic weapons developers' shots (may even be the same tank from 2 diff angles...)

It's almost certainly a shaped charge warhead, and the explosions are way too 'fiery' for such a weapon's detonation - and there is not normally on board ammunition for such tests. What you're probably seeing is the old 'pour a load of diesel fuel/petrol into the target' trick for that hollywood style sales video.

The angle of attck is also interesting: most ground launched ATGM achieve top attack by flying straight over the target, and having fusing that blows the shaped charge down into the target. These close up shots appear to show the entire missile coming down at a steep angle. I suspect the close ups may be completely separate firings, possibly of an air launched ATGM... (looks like a hellfire in the first)

Both are Javelin shots, which is a top down attack profile, so the seeker can get a better look at the target. Both tanks appear to be of the fake T-72 family, with a small engine in them to simulate engine heat. Javelin is a infra red seeker. So what we are probably seeing is the fuel supply to the little motor in there cooking off. just remember, videos from builders of missiles and planes have a porno music sound track and the ubiquitous gravelly voiced narration. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

only in the movies tanks are being so totally destroyed. the effect here is exagerrated very much.
the tank should have sustained a severe demmage, but not "collapse" the way it is demonstraited here.
