Hello all!

I've only recently visited this site for the first time.

At the risk of sounding like a moron and a complete kiss-***, I want to express just how impressed I am with Oleg's product (I have IL-2 with the AEP, running on a P4-2.4 GHz, 1.5 GHz DDR, 256 MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, DSL connection. Runs VERY smoothly!).

I happen to be a huge geek of military history (as I'm sure many of you are), particularly WWII naval and air battles, and am a former member of the military myself - U.S. Marines from 1989-93, U.S. Coast Guard from 1995-03.

I was totally ignorant of the greatness of the IL-2 series when I purchased the AEP Gold Pack, for it was only the persistent recommendation from the store clerk that persuaded me to try it. There has been a definative lack of buyer's remorse since then...

I am somewhat uneducated with forums, so any advice on adding signatures, avatars, joining gaming teams, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

What store was this?

Visit the FP webboard here, all about the upcoming Pacific Fighters sim that will work alone or with your new FB/AEP if you wish.

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=frm&s=400102&f=26310365

silly name though, especially for those who like Pacific Bombers http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Not as bad a name as Aces Expansion Pack though. Granted, Forgotten Battles is the best name for a game ever made.

...or shall we say Wellcome to Aces Board *ugh* http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Greetings, new guy.

It amazes me what people can sell for $50 nowadays, when the best flight sim ever made (so far) is selling for $30-$40.

Here's hoping there's a Wake Island scenario in Pacific Fighters, the next installment of this game.

Forgotten Battles is an awesome product. It still amazes me regularly and I have more fun with this sim than I have had since I was a kid. It opened up a whole new realm of history to me. The developer support is great, the community has a few grouches but overall it is a great bunc and they are very helpful. Go to this post (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=855106964) for all the info you will need to find out about this sim. Make sure you hit each thread in the post.

As far as signatures and such... look at the bar on top of the page that says New,Find etc.. go to tools and then help. That will tell you all you need to know about the forum and adding pics to a sig etc. Most of us fly online at Hyperlobby. You can get it in my sig and it is also in the Sturmovik Essentials thread that is in the post I linked to you. Welcome to the community...... ~S~

Yeah, really...

Most console games, for example, are $50-$60 a throw, and you don't get NEAR the depth of gamplay you would in a comparable game for the PC. Actually, with few and far-between exceptions, console games are rubbish (Secret Weapons over Normandy, anyone?) - but that's just my own personal opinion...

Hi Treetop,

You can now kiss your life goodbye, it's okay though, you won't be needing it if you've discovered the IL2 series.

S! & welcome to the boards & the world of IL2/FB/AEP & soon PF! Hope you'll like it.
Never hesitate to ask any questions as there are a whole bunch of people standing by 24/7 to help you (& shoot you down). Expect a steep learning curve at first - you'll get killed a lot the first times you go online - expect the best WWII sim on the market too, but once you got the basics I'm confident you'll enjoy it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Welcome aboard Treetop http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Spend some time familiarising your self with the controls and manual.

Read through some of the posts in this forum (will need to apply a 'dross' filter though)

Get youself a decent joystick.

Don't be supprised if your *** is kicked a lot online this game has a high learning curve. And requires a lot of patience.

Above all enjoy what is the best flight combat sim on the market ever.

Oh and with regard to signatures ...check out the official signature test thread and maybe get your self an account on www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) or similar image hosting site.
