The only issue I have after installing AEP is that I have a strange water effect only with the QMB online map8 Islands

The water which looks much more blue in comparison to the other maps has strange "blocked squares/darker rectangles layered into it? It is as though it is not being rendered properly. Especially from high altitude the sea looks Pacific blue with these darker blue rectangles in it?? The lower you get the more distorted it gets.

When I go into say the Crimea map and fly over the water it seems fine? Is there some kind of rendering problem going on which I would need to adjust in say Graphic card settings?

Any comments / suggestions would be great

Cheers

Also I find it's difficult to judge altitude with it, I've crashed into it a few times thinking I was higher up above it.

You guys got this too? Anyone out there notice this?

Is it a bug surely it's not meant to look like that all the other graphics seem ok?

I suppose we will have to wait and see http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Post a screenshot (if possible) and your system dxdiag report in the community support forum and allow a couple of days for Hunter82 or steve_v to have a look. If it turns out to be a bug, post the same info in Olegs Ready Room or email them to Oleg/1C:Maddox.

I played with some settings. To remove little squares in the water go to IL-2 Setup. In video tab, select trilinear, turn off texture compression, turn on polygon stipple, and disable "use palette".
I believe only one of these options affect whether the squares appear or not but I haven't had time to test them all. However, I believe texture compression is the cause of the squares.

We all got it.
Guess it is an adaptation for those with supercomputers so they can use those new water effects with maximum settings.
The rest of us just get uggly darkblue and loose the feeling for hight over the water. This way they also lost the acurasy for the pacific .

It is a lot easier to judge the altitude if u leave the texturecompression on in il2 setup, its named S3TC and althuogh its ugly u atleast dont crash into the sea.

this is one bady wit aep http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

this map is just hard for me to play cause the ocean is so blue, its hard to tell where you're at sometimes. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Thanks everyone for comments and suggestions

EvilBen, I tried your recommendations and it has solved the rectangles issue!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

If anyone else is having this trouble try it

Change Compression in Setup Tab to none uncheck use palette.
Now its just a Vast blue Sea.

Many thanks
