View Full Version : making AI planes flyable?

Would it be all that difficult to make some of the AI only planes like those hawk 75s or morko moranes flyable?
to add to those, the mc 202, a few attack a/c like the hs129 and any fighters i may have forgotten.

One other thing, would it be possible to allow people to fly quick combat missions on all the maps and set the season and all?

the only time u can fly AI planes is in multiplayer. what you have to do is edit the mission file. go into your il2 folder and find the mission you want edited. it should look something like this.

[MAIN]
MAP SandsOfTime/load.ini
TIME 14.0
CloudType 0
CloudHeight 1000.0
army 1
playerNum 0
[NStationary]
0_Static ships.Ship$Tirpitz 2 25417.14 50239.10 360.00 0.0
[Buildings]
[BornPlace]
2 3000 46177 45175
2 3000 6155 47381
1 3000 42753 14903
1 3000 13611 26740
[Bridge]
[House]

now right above where it says bridge, you have to add the planes that will be flyable in your mission. you add the planes for however many airfields you have in your mission. for example if you have 3 airfields and want all planes flyable at all 3, you have to write the plane list 3 times. and write [bornplace0]-[bornplace2] previous to each list. so it would then look something like this depending on the amount of airfields.

hope this helps.

P.S. when you start the server, you have to get into a flyable plane before you can fly the AI planes.

I kindof meant just normally selectable for QC campaigns and multiplayer without messing around http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you can make them flyable for multiplayer, everywhere couldn't be too difficult.

Except that it is.

Seriously though, what you ask cannot be done.

Erm...why not? just make a cockpit and remove whatever is making it ai only.

I know since its a closed game, I couldn't do it myself. I mean in a patch or something.

Excuse me?

Oleg? any other devs?

Rebel_Yell_21

Guess I misunderstood your question. I assumed you were asking what YOU could do to fly AI only aircraft offline.

It is absolutely possible for 3rd parties to model the cockpit, etc and make it possible for us to have new planes to fly. This is how many of the planes added to this game have been done.

But "just adding a cockpit" is one hell of a lot of work, and Oleg, quite properly, will not accept anything that is not as accurate and well-done as possible, so each new plane takes a lot of time, effort, and talent.

For instance, the next patch should have flyable B-25's and Ju-88's, as 3rd parties have been working on getting the interiors done.

Hope that answered your question.
