Hello.

I am the texturer/partially modeler of the Spitfire MkV cockpit. Fievel modeled a MkXIV cockpit and I converted it into a MkV cockpit and textured it. I modeled the cockpit bars after the references I had of the MkV cockpit. Unfortunately, it seems that Gibbage and I have miscommunicated about the cockpit structure. First, I had made the cockpit front glass to be internal, but Gibbage told me that he'd made the armored windshield external on the plane model. Subsequently I changed the windshield to external and agreed with Gibbage to make the MkIX have an internal armored glass, which was then done. I just didn't notice that the structure of the bars was still different than that of the external model. So, it isn't an historical error (both type cockpits existed on the MkV), but just a miscommunication. I'm sure that sometime in the future, it can (will) be fixed. Just don't know when. Until then, please don't pay attention to it. It's too small a deal to worry about i.m.h.o.

Whatever was said elsewhere...the vast majority of us truly appreciate the time and effort spent researching, building, and finishing the Spitfire cockpit (and any other cockpit - my hats off to everyone with this kind of devotion!). This is a minor problem at best. Thanks for clearing it up for us as well!

Think about it fellas, we get *both* versions in one Spit, external view no-bar version, internal view bar version. Always the Optimist.

Now that this is all settled and forgotten, on to that Hs~123 Biplane Ground Attack that Jeronimo83 needs to Mod over the FB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I don't care if the pit or model is an exact rendition of the real-life plane it's modelled after. I'm sure there were differences on most of the planes. Since I won't be able to spot the minor "errors" anyway I'm just happy we're going to get the best sim-Spits made to date (and that goes for all planes in FB!). My thanks go out to all modellers and people who contribute to this sim! Just my 2c. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I think it looks great, question the hurricane cockpit kills fps pretty badly, I notice the revi uses the same piece off the hurricane. Will the spitfire pit be more demanding on fps like the hurricane currently is "even without mirror"

A flat alpha cut textured exactly the same would look very close but of course the lighting and shadowing wouldnt hit it.

Just was wondering, thx alot for modeling it, talk to oleg about modeling all forward pits with alot of the other modelers. I know gibbage hates doing cockpits he said.

But all ai craft forward pit is alot of work but we would all buy that addon for sure.
