I am reading Ospreys elite units #5 -- B-29 Hunters of the JAAF. I was supprised at how often the B-29 were rammed over the home islands. It seems like more often then not no effort was made by the fighter to shoot, just ram. I recommend the book - very detailed. I hope the new game has more interesting damage modeling. I am drooling thinking of all the FMB B-29 missions. The B-29 will be in the game right?

In August issue of FlyPast there was an interesting 5 page article about japanese rammers. There was a picture of a couple B-29s and a Ki-45 making a pass, i knew that the B-29 was big but the Ki-45 looks like an ant in comparison http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/93.gif

Ramming was often practised, even by JAAF-aces such as Mayor Kobayashi with his Ki-61.

I scanned a good pic I found in one of my books. A very close pass of a diving Ki-45 attacking a B-29 on a head-on. (keep in mind that the cumulated speed of both is surey at about 500mph.)
The B-29 to the left is mortally damaged and abandon its position in the pulk.
