There is no one good range. Mine are now 190 for the machine guns and 220 for the cannon.

Find your prefered setting.

If I were a Spit pilot, I'd take advantage of the flat ballistics and make convergence about 250 yards. Hard to miss with laser guns.

Depends on your personal style. If your a crack shot as are some of the snipers here set them further out.

If your a really poor shot like I am bring the convergence in and fly part way up targets butt before opening fire.

I always have just enough fuel to arrive at the scene of my crash.

150 cannons and 200 mgs used to work for me

Depends on your flying style. If you TnB then slightly longer convergence with cannons is preferable for longer renged deflection shots. TnB i fly with cannons at 275m and .303s at 250.

If your an E fighter or like to try BnZ (yes it can work in a Spit) set it a bit closer 225 for cannons and 200 for mg. Usually you will get close range snapshots and so you will want to try for 'one pass, one kill' style fighting. Closer convergence may just get you a few extra hits. The Mg may even need closer convergence to be sure of doing damage. Those .303 are prettty weak if not tightly bunched.

Offline i set my mg convergence to about 35--375. I often use it to spook the AI into going evasive, particularly if im in a SpitV and i cant catch them in stragih line speed. That way they break and i can close and use my hispanos at around 250-200 m.

The convergence for the Spitfire should be set at the range you'd like to primarily fire from.

I use a 200 meter convergence for both machine-guns and cannon.

americans had the guns harmonized to 274 yards. that equals a tad over 250 meters. at 300 feet per 100 yard, that equals to 900 feet. in metric terms, that's 274.315 meters. with gun convergance set to this, consider this ur 'max range'. u MIGHT be able to hit something further out, but u'll do 2x's more damage at, or closer to convergance than vice versa.

i had my p-38 mg's at 300 meters, and i smacked my target with a rather good burst from .6 or .7 out.

another thing about the spit's mg's; 1: rather low ammo. make ur shots count. (1 of the things flying in cockpit u'll learn...when ur close, get closer and when u blaze, he dies). 2: ur mg's actually have rather long range...but unless u have the art of lead angle down, u'll think ur missin him when actually, the shells are already halfway to him.

On cannon-only ships like the La's and Yak 3P, I set my convergence to 400m. For just about everything else, I set them at 300m.

200/200. I find its most efficiant to have both set at the same distance. The Spitfire is a bit different to most other fighters, it has its weapons spread across the wing but both canon and machine guns have a high muzzle velocity. Sometimes it takes a bit of playing around with the convergeance because of this.
