I hope that BoB will include all the Western Front from June 1940 to May 1945. I think that it will be a wasted effort to include only the Summer 1940 period. Il2 Forgotten Battles has great capabilities, and I hope that BoB will use all of them too.

Here we go again.

1939-1941 is a Forgotten Battle for many, don't see why it shouldn't be represented in depth. This will be a focus sim, not a 40+ flyables survey sim.

If it's successful, there's room for expansions using the new capabilities further down the line.

Cheers, SSS

It will most probably be June 1940 to November 1940. After all it's a totally new engine and I think Maddox Games will try to limit the planeset and timeframe to make its introduction easier (and to have some more options for AddOns).

No Dora's! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I sure hope there will be some early 190A's though.

No. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Most likely, BoB will include BoB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Later, who knows? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But those super-extra-mega-detailed aircraft & scenery are sure to be HUGE CD/HD space eaters. With the actual state-of-the-art, a full Western air war simulator would span over 20 CDs or more. Even if they released it in DVDs, would be simply too large to be viable. Let's hope they'll develope a way to compress all that code... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

i hope it goes beyond 1940 otherwise we wont see a whole lot of spitfire types, or even my other fav the 190, we should at least get the V IX and As up to 4 at the very least.

I think that's unlikely. The first production series Fw-190A-1 entered squadron service in July, 1941. But who's counting.

Maybe our wish lists should be in ORR.

Personally I'd rather it extended earlier, rather than later. Start with the battles in France, on to Dunkirk, then onto the Battle of Britain, maybe extending onto the Blitz in Autumn/Winter.

Or even earlier.

I have a sort of idea for a German fighter pilot starting in the Spanish Civil War, getting his first monoplanes (early 109?), having a real easy time in Spain, moving on and ending up in France, bit more difficult with some Hurricanes, getting better planes, etc etc until you're mixing it with Spitfires over Kent in late summer '40, keeping half an eye on your fuel the whole time. Be nice if it included the German SAR facilities, so a ditch in the "Kanal" wouldn't necessarily be fatal.

WHat I want to know is will BOB include all the aircraft and maps that IL2 and FB have kept adding to the collection thus far.

I do not want it to be a survey sim either but feel that it would be ashame to abandon all the work on IL2 and FB that has been done thus far.
THe research has been done and so have the flight models so please integrate them into the BOB design if possible. I love the fact that FB improved the graphics for IL2

I would hope that throughout time that all the ww2 sims Oleg makes slowly build on each other to make the first sim to have so many aircraft that are not simply a survey of the subjects.

The thing is that BoB will push the graphics and modeling much further than FB did...compatability is almost rediculous to expect.

I sincerly hope that BoB is a jump off point to cover as much of WWII as possible in what will eventually become a survey sim of epic proportions. Every time I've seen a game doing the ETO or another theater they have a "selection" of aircraft...Oleg and his team have the skills and the talent to pull together a sim that can truly represent the ETO in its entire proportion...from the RAF's carriers to the V-1 Buzz Bomb. From the Typhoon tank killers to Lancaster and Halifax bomber raids over Germany at night. FB is almost there....BoB will hopefully provide a foundation for so much more.

I might be wrong but I recall reading somewhere BoB will not have as many flyable planes as FB as a tradeoff. More detailed and complicated = less flyable planes.
