Tir3 is the newest model - just out. Its supposed to be faster.
Never heard someone complain about Tir2 though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

tip: put a small white polystyrene sphere on a black cap - that way Tir sees the same "spot" no matter where you look.

Actually, TIR2 is faster than TIR3. There is a TIR3 PRO which is faster than both, but also with a PRO price tag.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gifHi Funyun46,i noticed that too but i assumed it was a case of the upgraded one i e ir3 being better performing even with a slower frame rate.
Seems strange that ir 2 is quicker than ir 3,any answers anyone please http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

The difference between the two is simple.

The TIR3 has a different imager (IR camera) it it boasts a 67% higher resolution than the TIR2 with a refresh at 80 FPS. The TIR2 refresh rate is 100 FPS but the higher resolution of the TIR3 is supposed to make up for it.

More importantly the TIR3s new imager is less prone to outside light causing problems which to me is appealing since I have a window behind me.

The TIR3 Pro has the new imager and it has a refresh rate of 120 FPS.

What does all this mean? Who knows. Realworld experience will tell.

I purchased the TIR3 Pro and I already own a TIR2 which I love. I will post a mini biased review when I get a hold of it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Please do,i would be VERY interested to see a review of how they both compare and work in "real life" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I would be very interested in hearing your unbiased opinions on the two devices as well. I am using an original TIR1 with no real complaints. I do, however, need to close the curtains if I fly during the day as I have 2 large windows behind me also.
I've debated whether to get the TIR2 at the currently discounted prices or hold out for the TIR 3 Pro.

Either way, I'm in no hurry my original version works very well for me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

Well my best guess is sometime next week. I talked with the Naturalpoint guy today wondering what the status was in terms of the order, he mentioned that it should ship sometime this week. Which means next week.

Nice people btw and it looks as though there is a bright future for the TIR because they are talking with a lot of developers out there. Guys that make racing games and shooters just to give you an idea.
