You forgot Gamevoice.

I`ve tried RW and Teamspeak. For ease of use and seeing who`s where TS wins for me.

I cannot truly comment on all but Teamspeak and Roger Wilco. TS is easily better. You also forgot Battlecom http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. I don't know about alot of you, but for the 51st, BC was huge durring our CFS II days.
But Teamspeak is better, clearer, and seems to lag far less.

Unfortunately I was only offered the number of open polling slots shown...and yes.. I forgot Battlecom and Gamevoice./... If they are your choices by all means mention them in the thread. I just want to get an uidea of what everyone is using.

Without a doubt it would be Ventrilo. We have used them all and Vent far exceeds anyone of the others. And with Vent you actually sound like you do in real life. I know this because I have talked with people I know in person.

Ventrilo, stable with a large number of clients connected, good clear transmission, highly configurable, able to set up lots of channels and it works pretty well even on dialup.

Bad point: it is not Win9x friendly, but Win9x PC's are getting fewer all the time.

i was under the impresstion that ventrillo was a bandwidth hog & was only good for High end Uber systems. For our money (free) lol TS2 is the best we can get.

That isnt true CH. You can set server on any one of several codecs which vary in Bandwidth use. We currently use DSP True speech and never have any lag probs. It is clear as a bell too.

The thing I like is that it has never failed to work for someone. We had some guys have fits with TS and RW due to different setups.

It also has built in Chat and Text to voice recognition.

It is very configurable(?) to just about any way you want.

My 2 cents worth!

Ventrilo is the best voice communication software I have used sofar out of GameVoice, RW, TS and Team Sound. Low latency, good for 56k, and very clear audio.

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

Yes but is it free? Another thing is i have our ts2 server up & running nicley now. It took me 2 months to get it set up & working properly.
(i had no one to goto for advise & had to figure it out on my own.)
Plus our squad is already using teamspeak so i don't want to ask those guys to go DL another com program.
So with all those reasons on mind i have my reservations about using ventrillo.

Still As a Ghost Skies League Admin i need to have all coms programs on my PC so i can sort out problems/disputes if they arise & it's better to do it over voice coms than by email or chat. So some post a link for Ventrillo please.

I think what would truly be ideal is if all FB squads were on the same coms program. But i don't really see that happening.

CH, Ventrilo is free. They do have exclusions on commercial use though.

We are currently using a dedicated server that we pay for. One of our squad mates was gracious enough to start one. It is really nice because we now have zero worries about someone hosting ventrilo server on their own and whether it will be up or not.

I ran a server with Ventrilo several times though and its easy to use and set up.

Good luck!

JG27 uses TeamSpeak2. We have found it works best for us. Although I have jumped into Ventrilo servers to talk to other squads, I have found that Ven isn't as easy to set up, and problems still plague me to this day.

As far as voice quality, TS and Ven sound about the same to me, excluding the occasional problem I have with Ven.

the Triple 7's use TS2 with no problems. I have used Ventrilo also and found it to work very nicely also. I used RW once and it was terrible in my opinion compared to TS2 or Ventrilo. TS2 and Ventrilo both seemed very clear to me and worked with no problems once set up properly.

I use TS. I can't say it's better than any other cuz it's the only one I've tried, but I will say it works really well.
