View Full Version : To 1C - small change to inflight and takeoff music please?

You might have noticed that there are now several 'radio-chatter' mods doing the rounds, which are being placed in the inflight and takeoff music folders.
As it stands at the moment, FB plays the files in the afore-mentioned folders in ASCII character order (like alphabetcal order but including symbols and numbers)

What we need is for the files to be played according to the nationality we're flying for (like the music in the menu folder does!)

So if we want to hear German radio chatter we'd have files named De1.wav , De2.wav , De3.wav and so on and FB would just cycle through them.
For Russian Ru1.wav , Ru2.wav etc...etc...

I wouldn't have thought this was too much to ask is it?

Please bump this if you agree!!!

I definitely agree...I, however, have forgotten almost all I ever knew of DOS, so can't write an appropriate *.bat program, or whatever...but someone smart will surely be able to do so....

These new background radio chatter files add a lot...and I personally also enjoy the/my Radio Entertainment files on some missions...

It would be great to have some little program to allow automatic switching based upon Pilot Nationality selected, but with some Manual override option as well...for example, I have just enjoyed flying a "Pacific" mission as USAAF hearing my "wingmen" english radio communications, while in the background I can indistinctly hear the Enemy Japanese radio chatter.... Likewise, When flying as RAF in the current BattleOverBritain campaign, the german chatter in the background was interesting/immersive.

I hope Oleg and team pick up on this new immersion technique/interest, and in the 2005 Battle of Britain product offer some In FLight control of radios (while Flying in Cockpit, NOT having to hit ESC and reset Controls in Sound Setup).

Wow!
Distinct lack of bumpage on this - I'm quite surprised as the "radio-chatter" mods really do add to the immersion!

"The best fighters I met in combat were the American P-51 Mustang and Russian Yak-9U. Both of those types obviously exceeded all Bf109 variants in performance, including the 'K'. The Mustang was unmatched in altitude performance, while the Yak-9U was champion in rate of climb and maneuverability."

BUMP in the vain attempt to alert someone from 1C that this CAN and probably SHOULD be added.

Bump to this! I just try the radio chatter files and they are great!

Do it in the take-off/landing folders and I'm on-board.

By the way: Anyone have realistic radio chatter for airfields and such? Take-off chatter would be cool.

Another neat addition: combat chatter, randomly played during flight. Ground to air comms and such would be cool (hearing ground units request air strikes, with war-noise in the background.... super-duper cool!).

Yes, good stuff, but cumbersome to manage as mentioned above.

I'm currently using both the German chatter, and the radio files. I've renamed them so they alternately play during my 109 campaign.

Thanks to the ones who put in the time to makes these.
