How do you Trim with an X45?

I've assigned the Rotaries to Elevator and Airelon Trim'but can't seem to get level flight?

Also what dos the Aux Button do?

And what is the Second Hat switch for on the Joystick?

Thanx

- How do you Trim with an X45?

THe rotaries should work with trim. You should do it in the HOTAS section at the bottom of the controls page.

I think you are better off putting prop-pitch on one instead of aileron trim. Map x-45 to shift+rudder= aileron trim.

You have to wait for the trimming to respond. It is NOT immediate and, without adjusting the config file, it is VERY sensitive. IE small adjustments make big changes.

It is an on/off switch for whatever you chose. I dont use it as it feels a little bit fragile!

- Joystick?

Whatever you want! I use mine for flaps up/down, supercharger up/down, mix control up/down and in seperate mode have mapped it to wing pilot commands.

You could do bomb site controls and advanced engine management if you like.

I am pretty sure that if you had the time, you could map every single key command onto your x-45.

I use trackIR so i have no need for hat-view. I used my mouse-stick to control the mouse cursor so I can navigate the map.

Bearcat.

I don't use the Profiler and am trying to Assign the Aux as the Gunsight Controls.

But despite the Aux having 3 settings it only registers as one when i am moving the slider. As soon as i move the slider it says it's assignd to another position.

So how to i set the Aux to near normal and far away?

Thanx

My advice... download the most recent saitek controller software, makes it very easy to make profiles.
Or you can download my very basic profile from the saitek site:
http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?s=49487e4ef61c26f16a3c94590d49c9f0&threadid=3546

You can then change this profile to suit yourself, I kept it simple because I have a bad memory for all those buttons!

Dont forget you can assign the more basic controls in the IL2/FB control panel section!

If you want to use the programming software check the link in my sig for my profile. It has most of the commands already programmed and you can mix and match them any way you choose.

I use the Aux Switch for bailing out.

"Oops! I needed that wing!"

Put the switch to position 3, the engine shuts off, and the pilot bails. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I use it ALL the time. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I use the red lit button for bailing. It stays covered until I am ready to bail..... use the profiling software and save your profile to a disk in case you ever loose your HD. The latest Saitek SW works great.

I'm afraid you're going to have to use the profiler for this one. You should do anyway!

It's dead easy to use and you should make sure that you have downloaded the latest ones from the saitek site.

with the latest drivers, you are able to use the hat-switch as a mouse, which is much better that using the mini-stick.

The problem is that without using the profiler, you are using the joysticks DirectX joystick assignments and there are only 23 of these.

The aux switch is assigned only 2 DX buttons, despite having 3 postitions, hence your problem.

The best thing you can do is to go into the controls section in FB and give EVERYTHING a keyboard command.

Write down the assignments and then quit, go into the profler and build yourself a profile using these new keyboard commands.

It wont take too long and you'll find it very useful.

I found the Aux switch to be the most problematic of all, it seemed to have a mind of it's own and would result in different actions to those I'd programmed. Apparently this is because when it is pushed forward or back it doesn't just perform the action once but keeps sending the signal.
Eventually I settled on using it for the Supercharger:
Forward - Position 1, Middle - null, Back - Position 2. Always have the switch set to null except when changing the Supercharger settings, then return it to null immediately after.

Cheers!

Ladies & gentlemen, this is the captain speaking. Thankyou for choosing to fly Mandarin Airlines. Those passengers sitting on the left-hand side of the aeroplane please make yourselves comfortable. Those sitting on the right... please look to your left!

I don't use the X45 profiler - I find I don't need the extra options it gives. I use AUX for undercarriage. The middle. The middle setting is set as the toggle switch for up down. So When I slide it to the left, the U/C comes up and when I slight it right ... well, you get the picture. Bit of a kludge but it works quite nicely.

You can get all three postions to work on the AUX:

In profiler set ADVANCED COMMAND for each position with JUST the command key you want (Press and Release Event) in the first box (Press) and set the timings to 0:00.

Delete everything from the other boxes (Clear All).

This works perfectly for Delete-end-PageDown for views.

If you don't clear the other boxes (in Advanced Command), you will be sending a key event continuously which will screw your computer up.

QUESTION: Does anyone know how to get the SAITEK SST to ALWAYS load a profile? It's stupid having to load the profile before launching the game!!
