Shugoki's command grab scales damage-wise with his health, up to an instant kill at critical healths and is guaranteed after a wall bounce. It will also heal after successfully landing.
You can also hit the character being grabbed the entire time they are being grabbed.

Lawbringers command grab has the same startup does none of the above things and all you can get after it is a light attack.

I think this is a problem.

a poleaxe in the stomach, being lifted and slammed to the ground does 0 dmg, lmao

You're only comparing the benefits without any regard to the drawbacks. Shugoki's demon's embrace doesn't scale with health, it only instantly kills at critical which means you can just kill him outright with a light attack if he tries. Lawbringer also doesn't suffer from the same penalties for missing; that is losing 60 hp and taking 25% more damage. The duration of Shugoki's control is longer which is great when there's only one enemy, but terrible in a group fight as it leaves him defenseless for the duration (with a 25% more damage taken).

Nearly every attack is guaranteed after wall stuns and anyone who is disabled by can be attacked for the duration. Those aren't unique to Shugoki.

Lawbringer's damage overall is trash, but it's hardly a direct comparison when there are no built in penalties beyond stamina and time that are standard to every attack in the game.
