View Full Version : The Grab counter window is broken

Someone explain grab counters, and the counter grab window is confusing, and not explained well in the training sims. The grab has to be either the most broken mechanic in the game, overpowered, or just plain misunderstood. Getting thrown off the ledge unexpectedly is one thing, but if your close to a ledge, maybe even surrounded, your probably expecting to be grabbed, so you prepare, yet some how the opponent gets the grab off, even after you countered with a light attack, or a counter grab by pressing square repeatedly during their attempt Which in the training says it should counter the grab. SO what is the deal? how does this system mechanic work is it: Heavy attack < Grab; Light attack > Grab; Roll > Grab; Dash left/Right < Grab; Grab=/Grab. The last one should be a canceled grab correct? So whats the window, less then a second to counter grab? what about being grabbed at your flanks? What have people been doing to balance the exploited grabs, are your counter grabs working? does anyone else notice the grab counter mechanic is finicky?
