I read that the p-39 does not have a supercharger. Then it should not have any WEP or boost in FB. Is this true? How is the P-39 modeled in FB?

I t had a supercharger. It didn't have a secong stage supercharger for higher altitude, which is why it's no good up high. It doesn't have Wep in FB which is correct. You must be talking about the Wep in the original IL2.

Yeah buzz, Im talking about IL2. So the p-39 has no WEP in FB. Wow, and it is used so often, Im surprised. Does it have any throttle augmentation?

The throttle goes to 110% in FB. You could say from 100 to 110% is your Wep now, but not really. All the planes overheat much faster in the patch for FB, so staying at 110% for very long is not possible anymore.

in my opinion if wwii engines had overheated after this much of 100% throttle use, they would have rather fought on paper planes. there is noway that engine overheats this fast.

think about the modern planes.....

after how long a messerschmit overheats now in the game?

Yes I must agree some planes overheat to fast
not in a naturally way

You guys use WEP!? I've never touched the thing... What am I missing? œber-speed? œber-climb? œber-turns? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I just leave the throttle at 95% and fly, sometimes I'll lower it to prevent overshooting... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Please tell me if I should learn to use the WEP, and when...

No supercharger and no wep. With those two things the AC would become a merciless killing maching. As it is it is toned down in FB but for its easier handling characteristics it is still my favourite fighter aircraft in the game so far.

Why would P-39 need a WEP? she never loose speed anyway.
Try a 360 degrees hard turn from 550kmh just above the ground and you'll see that when you exit the turn you have 400-360kmh (13 sec turn). Try the same in a Bf-109F and you'll exit at 200kmh if you did not spun already (turn time is the same 13 sec).

May I say that this is an aerodynamical nonsense?

Howdy
As Buzz said earlier all P-39's had a supercharger.

The prototype Xp-39 had a compound Tubercharger and
supercharger.
The P-63 had a supercharger module and the regular
Allison 1710 supercharger.

All P-39's (or American planes for that matter) had
WEP. WEP means War Emergency Power. It is just a
position on the thottle that you should not go beyond
except for emergencies. 110% power is a very good
representation. IIRC the throttles usually had a
safety wire attached that prevented the throttle from
being advanced beyond the 100% setting. This wire could
be broken easily enough with a little pressure.

I'm sure the Germans, Italians, and everyone else
had throttle settings above 100% or max normal ops
also. Which is altogether different fom Nitrous or
water injection.
