Don`t look for it... it moved to my holding area and wont be back untill i clean it up...

Few notes.. "some" people in that thread need to learn how to conduct civilized discussion... I am russian, born and raised and i was ashamed of some of you. There are better ways of doing things... Sad. Funny thing that you don`t even realize that it`s much easier to get point across and make it matter during mature discussion then jumping people right and left.

Also, i would like warn everyone...that i WILL be sending people on vacations for nationalistic approach, this **** gotta stop.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

this thread was the most idiotic thing i've seen here in a long time. i really can't believe that people can argue for ages about their favourite tank, let alone the way how it's done. when i was at the military i got the impression that people who are interested in planes are a bit more civilized than people who have a crush on tanks, and this thread demonstrated it. i'm living in austria and i'm sick of austrians and germans talking like this in the year 2004. with some of you i really have the impression that you would have liked to sit in one of these things 60 years ago - and sometimes i am sorry that you didn't.

hehe...Once a thread gets over 2-3 pages, I don't look anymore anyway. It just gets to be too much "surfing" and reading of irrelevant posts to get to the good stuff.

Like my Feshman Comp. teacher said in my first year of college (all those years ago http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif )..."Anything that you've written can likely be said more effectively in fewer words"

I`d disagree with you Thunder... there are few threads going in ORR and they are like open history book... some of them well over 10 pages but deffinitely worth reading. I am lucky enough that i have to deal with mature and educated people in ORR... well trolls and idiots pop-up here and there, but nothing major http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Overall, very enjoyable crowd i must say.

I think, Ivan, is that ORR has a reputation of being an "experts" forum. I'm always hesitant to go there and contribute to a thread if I don't have valid support (sources, articles, etc.) to back me up. In General Discussion, anything goes.

I think we should have a separate forum for OT discussions, but I don't know how feasible this is ?

UBI made couple of attmepts to create OT forum...but it always ended up in fiasco...

In reality, Ivan, I DO read multiple-paged threads that are relevant and of interest to me. It just seems there are so many lately that wind up being hijacked threads that go on to say nothing.

I will say this though...the order you've imposed through your decisive, impersonal and fair moderation is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Dux is right... why those guys argue about ugly-green painted T-34s instead of telling everybody that Ukrainian girls are the prettiest on the whole world, huh? Or Russian or Polish, for the matter. Those girls make the snow melt on the steppes in the midts of January. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

"We've got the finest tanks in the world. We just love to see the German Royal Tiger come up on the field".
- Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. Febuary 1945.

"One day a Tiger Royal got within 150 yards of my tanks and knocked me out. Five of our tanks opened up on him at ranges of 200 to 600 yards and got 5 or 6 hits on the front of the Tiger. They all just glanced off and the Tiger backed off and got away. If we had a tank like that Tiger, we would all be home today."

Thread's gone. Now where can I post my pictures of the really best tanks in WWII?

The best German tank was the Pz VI-II Z, or King Tiger Zwilling. It was introduced in 1945 when the eastern and western front lines were so close that a single tank's gun could reach both:

http://home.arcor.de/rayluck/sturmovik/zzz-forum-tigerz.jpg

It was so successful that the decision was made to produce the King Tiger Vierling with four turrets. It turned out to have some mysterious mobility issues:

http://home.arcor.de/rayluck/sturmovik/zzz-forum-tigerv.jpg

Those issues were resolved with the Pz VI-II VR or K√¬∂nigstiger Vierling Reihe:

http://home.arcor.de/rayluck/sturmovik/zzz-forum-tigervr.jpg

The last German tank model could have been very successful, but in fact it came too late: The K√¬∂nigstiger Doppelvierling.

http://home.arcor.de/rayluck/sturmovik/zzz-forum-tigerdv.jpg

Only one was finished and tested by the Wehrmacht. The test results are not known as nobody survived the tests. Some people say that the eight commanders shot each other when they couldn't come to terms about the direction of motion.

The best soviet tank was without any doubt the LaGG-3.

Early prototype LaGG-34:

http://home.arcor.de/rayluck/sturmovik/zzz-forum-lagg34.jpg

Production model:
