I went and changed the texture for the grass on this map and all hell broke loose. Now I have all these dark patches all over and just a couple little spots with the right texture.

Any have this happen to them and/or can it be fixed?

2 reasons as i see it

lightning issue or you need to select another grass texture, simple as that.

I don't think its lighting. All I did when I started the map was move the sun higher and its been fine ever since. No lighting added or anything.

I just tried moving the sun again and tried changing the texture again and the same thing.

Weird thing is, its just doing it on the 3 islands that are there. I have a big U-shaped island around the little ones and everthing is fine on that.

That has happened to me before. It is the texture that you are trying to use. I suggest using the Default texture for the grass. Others give conflicts for some reason.

same issue here. What I did to prevent yhis is i put the sun at maximum hight before i do any new changes to the terrain. it is like the shadows stay with the texture if you modify the terrain

Have you clicked "Generate Surface Texture" menu item after painting? I know it stinks that clicking that means you have to let it process for like 5 minutes, but when it's done your newly painted textures should look right. I think it just has to do with how sandpbox handles the texture memory, it soesn't do such a great job when you are painting, but after running the Generate command it cleans everything up.

I looked at the way it was laying across the islands and it matches with the shadow from the mountain on the left side of the islands. I use to have the sun behind it. I forgot I moved it then changed the grass texture. Its like the shadow from the mountain stayed aside from a couple little spots.

This is what the whole thing looks like. You can kind of see the the u-shaped island around the little ones. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
