I would like to see an attempt at open source code for inhome users, (not online).

A seperate set of sources for FLIGHT MODELS would allow others to tweek them.

Torque/and propeller P-factor would be nice also.

I'm 'a frayed knot' - actually I don't know for sure - but all references to having open source code have thus far been rather fervently rejected by anyone affiliated with FB or PF or 1c especially.

open code for home users means everyone will be able to hack the game online. nice try but no soup for you!

Obviously it would have to be bullet proof. Its just a dream. But from what I understand, PF is getting a NEW SET of flight models, to model realism/altititude better, I HOPE!. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I have NO desire to mod the FM but I would LOVE to be able to mod the eye candy such as effects which are not to my taste. I have also felt that it would be possible to have some elements of a (new) game modifiable whilst others are locked down (after all the FB is set up to allow the modding of skins and most other games utilise on separate objects files for effects, planes, ground objects etc so that each object can be changed.) It just needs to allow player access to some folders but not others.

Unfortunately this debate is dominated by the online flyiers who scream down any such suggestions in fear that it will effect their game play instead of thinking constructively about how it might be achieved so that EVERYONE can be happy.

I can not see why it is beyond the realms of human creativity to devise a new architecture in which online play is locked down such that only stock unmodded planes can fly online and other elements are opend up spo that those who love the sim but who play offline can also get what they want out of it.
