I went back to Fantasy of Flight on one of my vacation days and took some more pictures. These are a few I've edited so far and thought they might be interesting to look at.

Looks like the Storch was the "plane of the day" again. Did you stay for the demo flight?

No TB I didn't stay. When I get around all those warbirds I get the itch to fly FB so I came home. While I was there a P-51D came over and made a low pass for us.

Is that green Bi-plane the U-2VS that we've got in FB?

thanks for sharing, nice pix!

Still can't get used to the inverted Daimler-Benz engine... once saw a cut-through Junkers Diesel with 2 crankshafts... even more wicked!

In my narrow minded view a V-engine should be upright http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Got around to posting a few more.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Is that green Bi-plane the U-2VS that we've got in FB?
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

The green Russian bi-plane is a PO-2 that was flown by the "Night Witches" in WWII. Not sure if it goes by another designation or not.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Where's Ina? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Here is "Ina" and "Cripes-a-Mighty". I would never pass up a chance to take a picture of either one of these planes. They were in the maint. hanger and I couldn't get down there with them.

Here's a P-40 made for two. A training aircraft I would imagine.
http://img5.photobucket.com/albums/v22/Kanno/1-P-40_for_two-2.jpg

This is a F3F-2 that would go great with Pacific Fighters.

Nice Picks there Call_Me_Kanno. I vistited Fantasy Of Flight a couple of years ago and Kermit Weeks popped by and did a flight in the Storch. It was excellent, that plane could literally take off and land on a postage stamp!

Later that day he was mentioning that he was going to take up his P51 and do some sound recordings apparently for some people who were making a flight sim. Later that year CFS 3 came out so maybe it was those guys (Can't say that I've played it to gauge if the P51 sound in it is accurate or not).

Did you have a tour of his backlot and parts sheds? That place is definitely worth a visit just to gasp in sheer amazement at the amount of gear that this guy has collected.

His Short Sunderland was in my neck of the woods in 1990 when it paid a visit to Lake Windermere in the North of England. They built about 30 Sunderlands there during the war and a I posted a link on the forums about a month ago to an article which suggests that a derelict airframe was sunk on the lake after the war and may have been located. They are trying to get funds to raise and restore it.

Anyway, nice pics mate and if you have any more please post them.

Regards,

Control_Damage.

I did the previous visit and it was very good. I seen a Gloster Meteor, a SBD dive bomber and Hitler's personal Ju-52. They also said Mr. Weeks has a 20,000 square foot warehouse across the street that is so full of disassembled aircraft that when one of the bay doors is opened thats as far as you can get in. He plans to display these planes sometime in the future when he has more room. Which btw they were working on.

Awsum pics

Yes, Po~2 same thing as U~2 (for Utility) different name. They changed name after Polikarpov died 1944. Work started 1926 and I think first version was crop duster.

Po~2 downed a Lockeed F~94 jet interceptor in Korea at night. F~94 pilot shot down Po~2 on radar, then the jet stalled into ground it had to fly so slow.
