Let's say you have a track for me to watch, with all sorts of cool custom skins.

I d/l it, and play it, but I don't have those custom skins in my skins folder.

What happens?? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Do I get the default skins, or maybe void skins?

If the track is a net-track (extention .ntrk) and skin d/l was ON during record (bind a key to quick-record - press that to start/stop)... the skins will be in the ntrk file...

If memory serves, the skins are saved in the track file, so you'd see them anyway? Never tried it myself.

I was asking myself that question also. Wanna also know whatcha got to do to get those skins in track (does the track nust be in .nrtk format or can it be in .trk also?)

Question is, when I download the track, is it possible that the skins will be on the planes, or do I have to download them separately?

I don't think they go into the cache - but if you recorded yes (only .ntrk files .trk will NOT do) you already had them anyway from the game...

if you record yourself online or using a multiplayer DF room (but not connected to the internet ) youll make a Ntrk

if you have set skin DL to ON your custom skin will be in the Ntrk

if you watch this Ntrk the custom skin will appear in your Netcach folder

.

What if it's not an online track, though?

For example, I have a mission that I think is pretty fun, and I was going to post a track of it(or at least try) to get some feedback, but I have used a fair amount of custom skins, and at least one that I have modified myself, so it only ever existed on my hard drive.

So if I post this track and one of you guys play it, what will you see when that cutom modified skin of mine is examined during the track?

On a related note, let's say I post the mission, and you download it. You don't have those skins I used, let's say. What will you see displayed on your screen? I'm guessing default skins.

If you recorded a Net Track (using an online game or just by creating a server offline http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ) and using quick-record - then your (never published) skin would show up on someone else's computer if he played it - the skin is IN then .ntrk file...

You would see EXACTLY what you see online http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif - all the custom skins show! Even if you did not download them EVER - e.g. play the .ntrk file on a computer not connected to the net - and they show http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...

I am wondering whether or not I am being understood...let's leave online and offline out of the equation

Sometimes I wonder if everyone realises that you can play offline

Skins visible in a mission recorded using the .ntrk format will be visible when it's played back regardless of whether they're in the relevant skin folder on the PC where it's played back, they get stored in the .ntrk file. This is not the case with .trk files. Online/offline is irrelevant.

Ah. When I was reading "online", that made me think offline was different. Thanks Tully
