It's not you man, that's the way it is, they are smaller than they should be!! For me it makes jabo flights f. ex less fun, although I love it very much. The targets should be bigger, maybe something for Battle of Britain???

"some of them must be huge..bigger then some of the planes"

No, wrong. Early Tiger tank is less than 7m long, that Stuka in your screenshot is over 11m long and even bigger wingspan. PzIII less than 6m long. The smallest plane is as large or larger than the largest tank (a little shorter but much wider).

You can go in the FMB and see for yourself, put an I16 right next to a King Tiger (little over 7.5m long), the dimensions in the game are correct.

WWII tanks aren't all that big, I have driven cars as big as some of the light tanks.

Use full zoom in view, that gives the correct image size as seen by humanoid vision.

Use full zoom out view for (somewhat) correct field of view for humanoid vision.

To get both at the same time, upgrade monitor 50 years from now.

exactly my thinking, LEXX

if I ever want to take a screenshot, I do it at max zoom because the proportions seem to change.

PS

some folks don't realise how flippin big the Stuka is! It's surprisingly big.

the one at the raf museum in hendon was pretty huge... only plane that ever suprised me was b-29... id always imagined a behemoth, but it didnt seem that big up close... course, it was indoors so tricky to gauge the size.

I used to think that all the objects had been scaled down too. When I parked my plane beside something like a car or tank it always looked way to small. But I now think it looks that way because of a slight 'fishbowl' field of view; I think all objects are to proper scale, except perhaps the house models.

Even my "compact" 1974 Swinger is bigger, with 203.8" length without bumper guards & 69.6 width.

COMPARISON

Techincal:

In the engine department, the standard Maybach 6 cylinder has almost double the displacement of the Chrysler 225 cid (3.7L) slant six, but this is not shown by the horsepower output - The Chrysler 225 when equipped with a single barrel carburetor clocks in 145 hp @ 4000rpm (gross), the Maybach falls short with only 140 hp @ 2600rpm - Although, PzII model L has the high performance Maybach 66 which provides pavement ripping 180 horses.

The transmission in the Swinger is a 3-speed automatic 904 Torqueflite, which operates very smoothly, although is not very sporty. Panzer II has been clearly designed with European driving habits in mind, and it comes standard with a 6-speed SSG syncromesh manual transmission. Also to be noted, the Swinger has a front engine with rear-wheel drive while Panzer II's drive wheels are on the front and the engine is the rear. Rather unusual configuration, which can be seen as a sign trying to move in on Citroen's FWD market. Thanks to the dual-track system, parallel parking is a snap!

Panzer II appears to be a true "drivers vehicle", as it has an independent torsion bar suspension on four wheels. The Swinger, uses a more mundane configuration with torsion bars in the front and a live axle with leaf springs in the back.

Performance:

Although there has been much scrutiny about the performance figures of the Swinger, it really dominated the competition here. The Swinger achieved 100 km/h in less than a minute and still had plenty of pep left, whereas the PanzerIID topped out at 55 km/h. All those frivolous accessories can't help it against Mr. Newton - 9500 kg curb weight really hampers it's performance off the line, and also at the pump; Fuel prices are high these days, and that 170 liter tank takes quite a while to fill up - Leave early if you are going to make a quick pitstop on the way to work. Be prepared for frequent fillups, 2.75 MPG / 85L/100km is a number that will make you consider other alternatives (such as the T-34 diesel).

ACCESSORIES & FEATURES:

Panzer II's interior is rather bleak. It has seating capacity for 3 (Swinger- 6), although storage space was good. I can't imagine trying to transport 180 20mm & 2250 MG rounds in the Swinger. We had much more difficulties picking up good stations with Panzer II's FuG5 radio, than with the AM/FM unit found in the Swinger. The Swinger had a cigarette lighter, which the Panzer didn't but then again the Swinger did not have a 20mm cannon or a 7.92mm machine gun. Some reviewer pointed out that the machine gun can be used as a cigarette lighter, but this is very cumbersome and requires an assistant.

REVIEWER'S COMMENTS:

Overall, the Swinger seems to be a more sensible choice, but given the ongoing SUV craze and consumers craving for more macho vehicles, we expect the Panzer IID to be a great success. One owner pointed out that it fits nicely in his garage and that their neighbour has since then stopped boasting about their Hummer H2.

Scale is right. Or, at least, close.

The Ferdinand is a little bit too small, but not much. Maybe about 40cm too short.

Stood next to (climbed over) a Tiger in Normandy and been to Bovington Tank museum in England. Also been to numerous air shows in UK and would say that the scale is,, well,, exactly right.
