I'm just so curious about this it makes my Lil heart patter.....

Why is it that so many folks that fly in CP games with FBD running don't read the Brief & find out where the ground target is so they can go fly Fighter cover for the bombers.....

doesn't it make sense to know where you need to be instead of flying around aimlessly looking for another guy who is doing the exact same thing you are....

Come on please take the 5 minutes to read the brief, besides that it took the mission builder 20 min to wright the damed thing so you could have a clue!!! Besides that youll have alot more fun in CP games if you..............

In warclouds is *Always* attack the objective if there is one, the only case where i do not, is if there are already a good amount of bombers/ground pounders, then iw ill provide cover for them

The funny thing is, the doofus (plural) that don't bother to read the thing still take 10 minutes of goading them to hit the Fly button.

There isn't a lot you can do about cluelessness.

For some, it's hard to wean them off the "fly straight to enemy at 2 feet and turn on the deck shooting until dead" furball mentality. They don't quite "get" that a mission might actually have a goal, or a point to it, and that it's designed to bring people together TO fight.

lol this is why it best to built FOol Proof Missions cause of those moron that just runs in joyride the entire mission and leave us Bomber/ Ground attack pilots get chop to pieces cause they didn't read the freaking brief

Everybody should read the brief but...

When you enter a mission and read the brief the 'S' key doesn't work and you can't see how many people are already flying a bomber or a fighter. Also you can't judge the actual tactical situation on the battlefield. So you don't know what to look for when you read. Maybe there are already lots of bombers in the air. Maybe the bombers' base is under attack. Maybe most of the targets have already been destroyed. You have to hit 'Fly' to really know what's going on. This may seduce many people to skip the brief completely.

Because this game offers no true sense of accomplishment beyond killing as many people as you can.

I'm being a devil's advocate here, but the truth is that there is no sense on continuity between missions, etc... the only stat is your own score, etc...

I play Heat of Battle COD mod - and when you win you feel like you really won a battle.

In il2, I don't get that sense - especially in some text based fast scrolling FBD that causes lag.

When these servers start running a 24/7 DCG dynamic online dogfight campaign, perhaps the sense of a war will give more motivation.

I hope BoB really takes this further.

In the end, many just see no value in teamwork or earning the mission objectives- and there is really no way to make them... it should be done in a way to make it appealing - perhaps Oleg should really look at making this game more than a dogfight game.

Salute!

I just like flying games. If I want to get a "feeling of accomplishment", I change my own oil or trim the lawn.

i agree with locust.
READ THE DAMN BRIEFING
it took the guy who build the scripted mission
a lot of time ,besides he also needs to think of what kind of mission hes building, plane sets ,targets, etc.
he also needs to write the briefing wich takes time (biggest part of building a mission IMO as i build online scripted missions myself )
and when hes finished he also needs to script teh damn thing and test it wich can be rather frustrating from time to time.

Now the mission is hosted on a server and it runs great BUT then there are those damn kids who dont feel the need for teamwork and the mission goals, and all they seem to do is take off in the easiest plane to fly (for what is given) and fly from base to base to meet the other kid in a furball half way between the two bases.

if you do that then WHY THE HELL DO YOU FLY ON SCRIPTED SERVERS lol

those kinda people always seem to piss me off when i build a nice mission and they act that way http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

From what I see, hardly any body ever gets in a bomber, I always take a bomber over a fighter if I can. Maybe its because there arent many bombers out there, some like to take fighter/bombers and leave the heavies, I perfer the heavies although I will take a 'jabo' fighter if I dont have a choice. Press the key and you will see 90% are in fighters or fighter/bomber roles while the other 10% are in the 'real bombers'. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Prolly not since you cant really tell who is reading it and who is not, unless you consult the chat after a while. But you have to keep in mind if you play on a certain server for a while you tend to already know whats going on on the map, hence no need for you to read it yourslef.

Locust--

Some of the problem is familiarity with the map. One time, I read the brief, went after the target with my bombs, but couldn't find the darned thing (I know, poor SA). I begged and pleaded on comms and in the chat window for someone to specify where the dang target was! Finally, YOU came to the rescue..."It's in F8 like the brief said, but it's at the "Y" in the road...You'll see the tanks on the road."

I was stoked, found the "Y" in the road on the map, sneakily approached from an off direction, and ...nothing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif no tanks, no enemies, nothing. Just flew around it a bit, looking in bewilderment until I drew the attention of an enemy who bounced and killed me from above. So you were either a joker or we miscommunicated. I panned around from my hole in the ground and still didn't see anything.

After re-spawning, you were luckily returning to base and you led me back, this time specifying the "Y" at the extreme southern end of the F8 map quadrant (not the one in the middle where I had gone http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif ).

Sure enough--the target was there!

Even though I got waxed a couple more times, it was fun coordinating together, trying to accomplish the mission and win the map. Actually, it was a BLAST.

So do I have a point? I guess it is that even if you read the brief, it can still be difficult to find the target without someone giving more specific coordinates (like "lay of the land" kind of stuff). Perhaps my video settings make it difficult to find, but I find ground targets difficult to discern.

So when you see a gaggle of guys come on in to the server and you've been in the room and you know where the fight is and where the target is, it can be helpful to your team to just let 'em know in the chat window what the situation is.

Although, generally, it does seem that many folks never respond to any chat messages or take the trouble to get the voice comm thing working. Probably they are not savvy to all of the bells and whistles of the game or setting up all the additional comms software and such.

YMMV.
