Last week’s State of the Game (http://tomclancy-thedivision.ubi.com/game/en-GB/news/detail.aspx?c=tcm:154-271414-16&ct=tcm:148-76770-32) discussed a lot of the changes that were implemented with Week 4 of the PTS, which came to an end on Tuesday. As we wrap things up, we are very excited to announce that Update 1.4 will be available for all platforms on Tuesday, October 25th!

Today we had a standard maintenance (http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/1508972-Maintenance-October-20th-COMPLETE?p=12009243#post12009243) to restart the servers and clean up the databases.
Following week 4 of the PTS, there are two changes we want to highlight.

The chance for higher quality items from Veteran and Elite NPCs has been increased in the Underground. This doesn't mean that more loot will drop, but that you will have more chances for these items to be High End or Gear Set instead of Purple.
We fixed several instances where the Ballistic Shield would become unusable.

With Update 1.4 around the corner, we want to take a moment to talk about the Public Test Server. (http://tomclancy-thedivision.ubi.com/game/en-gb/news/detail.aspx?c=tcm:174-268294-16&ct=tcm:148-76770-32) It was a first for Massive, and indeed for Ubisoft, to set one up and wow, we are so happy with the results. Without your help and your diligent testing, we wouldn’t have been able to make Update 1.4 what it is. Thousands of players helped test the Update on the PTS for four weeks, giving us valuable feedback, data, and reporting bugs. The information from those players has then spread to the rest of the community - to the forums (http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.php/498-The-Division), YouTube and Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision), to mention a few places - so that even more people have been able to get involved in the discussion and help improve 1.4.

We’d also like to take this moment to once again thank the Elite Taskforce for all their hard work and for taking time off their busy lives to travel all the way to Sweden to take part in the ETF workshop. Their feedback and the discussions we had during those three days were invaluable to the game, and we hope to be able to reprise the initiative in the future. In Update 1.4, remember to check out the ETF mural just down the street from the Base of Operations, on the corner of 8th Avenue and W 31st Street.

We’ve learned a lot from this entire process and will take those learnings as we move forward.


We’re incredibly grateful for all your passion (and sometimes anger) and, due to its overwhelming success, we’re hoping to bring the PTS back for future updates. Working with the community to improve The Division is incredibly important to us and will remain a priority going forward. So thank you, all of you, for your help. We’re still looking into a way to get the console players on board, but that’s a complicated process and we sadly can’t guarantee anything.

Due to the scope of Update 1.4, there are certain aspects such as Named Weapons that we simply didn’t have time for. It’s on the list of things we want to look into and the feedback you’ve been providing so far has been great. Keep it coming!

Moving forward we are going to keep a close eye on the meta as it shifts with Update 1.4. We are excited to be able to make changes and add to a constantly developing and more balanced meta!
Finally, as we look past Update 1.4, we can’t wait to start talking about the future and in particular, Survival!



Following PTS week 4 when the change to ammo capacity was implemented, we are happy with where it has landed. Keep in mind that this is still a 50% increase compared to Update 1.3 and with the changes to time to kill, you will be spending less bullets taking out enemies. We are always open to feedback and there is always the possibility to make chances in the future.
