Well somebody obviously forgot to remove then from 2.04.
They are still there, on both planes, and work as before!!

Good! They need to leave them well enough alone. Why would they want to remove them anyway?

Don't need them in real life. Especially on the turbines. Only in this fantasy world do fires smolder forever with no fuel sources (that means anything to burn, not just kero or av-gas), at extremely low temps after being blown out only to re-light as the wind dies down. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I would delete them, cause the P38 are a lot more often flown in dogfightserver, than the GO229 or the other jets, and If I informed correct they not only extinguishes the fire, but also let the engine run, as nothing happens- and at least this make the whole thing just silly! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

i've never heard of p-38's having extinguishers; just speed, speed, more speed, 'climb like a bat outta hell'....even tho our p-38's have extinguishers, they will only work on engine fires. ineffective if its a fuel tank fire. so in a sense, it makes it moot.

If we start that then it`s downhill all the way. Do you want to fly the real P38s the Men flew (simulated)? Or just some made up `P38, but not quite a P38 thing whatever/ who cares?`

What would the great pilots think if you bumped into them one day and said, "Did you use the fire extinguisher on the P38 in WWII? I did in my SIMULATION- it was cool!!"

If that`s the prevailing view, why not just stick sidewinder missles on them?

I wish people would stop and think...

Come on now your not going to see a 109z in a historical FR server or any server for that matter! so why post **** comparing them?.
If the fire extinguishers werent common in the models in game they shouldnt be included

Big difference, some P-38's did have extinguishers but they did not have sidewinders. Think of it as a real-life variant of a plane instead of a fantasy plane

Those pilots would probably be impressed that a young man would know that some P-38's were equipped with extinguishers... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

In all my sources I have, *none* of them say P-38s ever carried fire extinguishers. Most of all there wasn't any need, as P-38s weren't catching on fire THAT easily.

Yeah, I couldn't find any sources either. I was just going by what everyone else said.

If they really weren't installed, then thay need to be taken out.

Anyone notice the top fuel gauge on the P38 is broken? it might just be me, but i was losing fuel bad, and the top one always read full. Don't know if its a bug or not, could be my tired eyes.

they are still there like they should be, they just dont extinguish fuel tank fires like they did before. In the previous version.

Its just bad wording on thier part

I spoke with a friend of mine he says that the late models had them, maybe not all of them but definataly some of them, he is a book maniack & I trust him if he says that some had them, if its unrealistic, I say yank them too but if more than 100 had them wich I belive is true then let it be or take them off the j & leave um on L.

still if a 190 or 109 with 108 cannon hits you once where your engines on fire its most likely your missing a boom or whole back section of the p38 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Guys even if "some" of them were equipt with extinguishes, If we start to argue this way, we can put FB into the trash can or call it secret weapons over Europe.
*Some D9 and 262 where equipt with a gyro gunsight (like the K14)

*Some 109 where equipt with flattnertabs at the alereons- (you remember the diskussion ? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

*Some Pilots let rework the surface of the planes to got more Speed out of it.

*Some 162 flow real combat missions, so why not let it in the dogfightservers

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif So I would delete the extinguishers...

Well, not a big deal, IMO.

Offline:
Don't use them if you fly the P-38. I've never used them 'cause I didn't even know they exist in the game. And I will not use them from this on. It's that simple, isn't it. Use them if you want to cheat yourself.

Online:
I can down P-38, like any other plane, whether there were extinguishers or not. I will not use them online either. If somebody wants to use them, I don't care. If I can't bring him down, I won't cry. It's my gunnery that sucks in that case.

And yes, thank you for the patch, Oleg!!
