How was the forum back then compared to now?

Can't speak for it back then, but in 2012 pre-AC3 there was a frenzy of activity. A lot of the old regulars left after that. Slightly less traffic for AC4, then more again for Unity, then less again for Syndicate. It goes in cycles. Right now is the deadest I've ever seen it, obviously, because there's no new game to talk about (besides Empire, and we've kind of exhausted that tiny little dribble of info over the last several months).

Well back then it was crazy. It was most alive during the Ezio Saga.

Everything AC3 > died down more every year. These forums have been on a decline in activity since 2012. Not saying its bad, there are still loads of people here during 2012-2015, but 2010 and 2011 was great.

Theres nothing to talk about here now other than the film and that enhanced thing Ubisoft are putting out so they can grab a few $$$ due to no AC this year.

Edit: Totally meant "Saga"... not "Sage" :p

I joined in 2010. The forums were definitely a lot more active and the best thing was the endless fan theories about the series' future, conspiracies, unanswered questions etc. People were excited about modern day and after the Lucy twist in ACB everybody lost their friggin' minds. I think losing MD is what killed the forums. People got increasingly frustrated when they realized (sometime around ACR) that the devs didn't seem to have a solid endgame planned after all and were just coming up with cliffhangers for the sake of cliffhangers. All the theorizing became pointless after that.

I agree SixKeys. I've been lurking here for years because I loved reading other people's thoughts on what's going to happen next. I remember I was losing my mind trying to figure out what Ubi was up to after Brotherhood's ending. I always found it so exciting to hear new theories. I remember for a while I was convinced that AC3 would be in the french Revolution because it starts in 1789 and 89-17=72. But now that the modern day is basically dead, there's not much to theorize and talk about. The cryptic hints have been gone for years, and the most we have right now is that the initiate system might be gone, Juno might be getting a new body soon, Desmond and Clay are in the gray, and Abstergo knows about Desmond's son. It just feels so lacking compared to how it was during Ac1-3.

My memory is kinda unreliable and I wasn't always around so I'll just post a list of what I can remember from 2007-2009.

A lot of us were really young, anywhere in the very early teens to just turning into an adult. So I definitely remember some of us being more fresh, energetic but also brash and naive. The AC series was new, so were a lot of us.

There were a few Altair fangirl clubs if, iirc. I remember a some of them getting upset when AC2 revealed that he was with Maria.

A lot of people were enraptured - like really really - by the animations for AC1 (and 2). There were threads about "What's your favorite counter kill animations?". A lot of them were really signature, people would describe their favorite animations in perfect detail.. I remember some people posting screenshots of dozens, sometimes even hundreds of the guards' bodies strewn across a street.

Back then I think it was ms-kleaneasy who was the head of the forums (seem to recall a smiley avatar wearing a wizard hat and a pixie dust wand). Black_Widow9 was around as well. Mr_Shade had just joined, he was the new guy.

There were Live By the Creed sub-forums back in AC1 and AC2. There were badges that showed which communities they partook (when you highlight the badge it'll say "joined/participated in LbtC 2007" etc). It's kinda like The Watch and Join the Family except some of the activites were more hands-on (posted self-made cosplay, arts and crafts, photoshop contests, etc). I think admins had to review each and every entry before granting the rewards points. The prizes back then were first come, first serve.

The "beat a dead horse" emote was really popular, I think some people also posted walls of symbols, text, emotes to make a bigger picture. Kinda like a mosaic...?

AC was new so the fan base was a bit smaller, you'd see UbiGabe around here a little more often.

The wallpaper was about what you'd expect: Altair for AC1 and Ezio for 2. The Altair theme, iirc, was kinda dark... almost black? The Ezio theme was the exact opposite, lotsa white. I think it was around AC2 - or was it ACB - that the forums went through a software change (it wouldn't be the last, although I might be wrong).

There was also a webcam puzzle thingy for AC2 - can't remember if there was one for AC1. People posted their findings back then.

There were a lot of threads and posts about how there shouldn't be different versions of the collector's editions for each region. We still saw them popping up for AC4, ACU/S, but I seem to remember it being more numerous back then.

There was an artist who went by the name of kaxen6, posted lots of nice AC-related comics. Find them here: http://kaxen6.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=%2F&q=creed
Some favs: Waiting for a train (http://orig07.deviantart.net/e6d1/f/2011/135/0/9/waitingfortrainacbspoilermaybe_by_zekarmisama-d3ggo83.jpg), praying (http://orig13.deviantart.net/31cc/f/2007/335/d/8/pray_by_zekarmisama.jpg), hookblade and zipline (http://orig06.deviantart.net/f7df/f/2011/136/9/c/zipline_by_zekarmisama-d3ghfco.jpg)

I remember when this fan art was posted and people were totally blown away by it because there wasn't a lot of fan art yet (the first time I saw it, it wasn't even colored in yet):

I'm sure there are a lot of oldies lurking around that can give more accurate descriptions and recollections.
