Hi chess friends,

Can anyone tell me what the 2D chess board and piece sets are like on Chessmaster 10th Edition?
For example are they customizable regarding board square colours and/or chess piece colours?
Also are they completely re-sizable?
This is the weakest element for me in the whole Chessmaster series - too many fancy boards and piece sets and very few really useable serious layouts.

Many Thanks,

Well all the information available is here: http://chessmaster10.ubi.com/us/

It doesn't mention anything about customizing 2D boards though, not from what I have read. So from speculation I think that there will be a larger number of 2D boards than in Chessmaster 9000. I don't think they will be "completely re-sizable" as for example in Fritz, Junior etc. But there is for sure both small and large boards. I am though almost sure you can choose whatever board and pieces you want, for example you can choose the metal board along with the newspaper pieces or something like that.

Also you should perhaps add a thought to all the new 3D boards as well.
On the site it says says: "More than 30 full 3D chess sets, including the first animated chess sets in a Chessmaster PC game, and the option to view all the 3D sets in enhanced 3D using glasses with red/cyan lenses".
To play the same way as Kasparov did versus X3D Fritz can only be a cool experience so to say. I think that when I have tried the 3D features I won't use 2D anymore.

Lastly, the 2D boards is only speculation since it doesn't say anything on the site.

There will be both 3D and 2D boards and all of them will be fully "re-sizable"...
As for the various boards, they will come together with their pieces. You won't be able to match paper pieces with metal boards or wood with clay, so to say http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
If you'll check out the screenshots with the boards you'll surely find the reason for this new approach http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
