Assassin's Creed: Heresy, a novel by Christie Golden which I spotted on Amazon and posted about a few weeks back, has just been officially announced, starring a new modern day protagonist, Simon Hathaway and featuring a new version of the Animus [ANIMUS v4.35].

Here's the mesmerizing official artwork:

Official Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author Christie Golden comes an original story set in the universe of Assassin’s Creed. Reliving the memories of his ancestor who fought beside Joan of Arc, high-ranking Templar Simon Hathaway slowly uncovers secrets of the past that could dangerously impact his present…and that of the entire Templar order.

An endless conflict. An old wrong. A new revelation.

Simon Hathaway, member of the Templar Inner Sanctum, brings a cool head and detached manner to his new role as Head of Abstergo Industry’s Historical Research Division.

But Simon also has an insatiable curiosity, and is fascinated by the thought of experiencing history first-hand through his ancestor--Gabriel Laxart, who fought alongside the legendary Joan of Arc.

When he enters the newly-designed Animus for its initial project, Simon finds himself unprepared for what he discovers: How deep the conflict between the Templars and the Assassins goes. What Gabriel will do for the woman he both loves and reveres.

And the most dangerous truth of all: Who is the heretic…and who is the true believer.

The artwork also features coordinates. I've pinpointed them on the map. All the locations refer to various points in France, except one which is specifically located in London, near the modern day Hilton Hotel Park Lane. Check them out:

Ah, we're finally going to have a AC story that deals with Joan of Arc. Good. At least this time we know what the Piece of Eden used is: the Sword of Eden.

Also, sorry, but I really have to do this in light of the title:

You always beat me to things too... :nonchalance:

For 2x the price of the paperback ($27US vs $13.80) you get:

This premium hardcover edition features exclusive art sketches and behind the scenes interviews, as well as a special code to unlock Assassin's Creed rewards through Ubisoft Club's loyalty program.

Out of all the AC novels, this one really interests me. Hope it's good!

Besides the build your own wooden hidden blade book, this is the most interesting to me, too. Not a day 1 buy....maybe after I catch up on Farlander's blogs.

I can't wait to read this - definitely going to get the hardcover version. And the fact that there were coordinates left in the cover . . . just love this kind of stuff. Wonder if those locations will play key parts in the book?
