View Full Version : Star Trek Bridge Crew: Looking for Roleplaying crewmates (PS4)

07-05-2016, 02:30 PM

I'm 45 from the UTC time zone, and a life long trekkie - TOS+1st 6 movies and Voyager (Janeway is the best Captain) are my favs. DS9 got really good after the religion crap but utterly Hate TNG and NuTrek is the WORST.

However, I'm looking for crewmates to create a hardcore group to role play (seriously) on the game on the PS4.

Ideally how I see this working is that we would each take turns at being Captain and working on each station in turn. After we've all 'leveled' up enough to know how the game mechanics work and we've got some synergy, then I would like to see us specialising in specific bridge roles, however I can see that most people would want to be the Captain at some point, so it could work that we take turns on being Captain, but the rest of the time we favour our preferred bridge position.

Of course I'm open to suggestions, but I would like to form a 'core' Starfleet small group of roleplayers who know the language, and protocols of being a bridge crew member and really can take this (hopefully good) VR/Star Trek experience to the max.

Side note: Community Mods - when you can set up a proper Star Trek Bridge Crew forum, please move this into a sub-forum of 'Player Groups' or something? Otherwise this is just going to get buried under all the generic posts on here.

Judging by my skills on the Enterprise, do you perhaps have an appropriate position available on your crew for me?
I cook a mean pancake, and make a nice coffee. Every member of starfleet probably likes both I figure?

I would be up for this. Not that keen on playing as captain. I hate playing captain online, tactical arming and disarming torpedoes without being ordered to or ordering the engineer to repair something and he is already doing it, like if Iím playing as tactical I wonít even raise the shields unless ordered. If mr worf went to yellow alert without being ordered Iím pretty confident Picard would fire him out an air lock. Iím happy to play engineer and tactical my pilot skills r about as good as Geordieís without his visor on.

Has anyone noticed that despite The fact that this is a decent game, and relatively well-thought-out, that there is a major bridge crew officer missing from the lineup. We have a Captain. We have a Helmsmen, a Tactical officer and we have Engineering. But where is my 1st officer?!! Or is he permanently assigned to the holodeck...? Just sayin.

Before anyone gets their nipples in a twist and goes into a frenzy of excessive loyalty and defense for this game That I am in no way being serious. I am aware that role is in fact fulfilled in game. Albeit in a very small and almost non existent fashion. I'm just curious to see how many players here agree that this game could be greatly improved by the addition of a 5th bridge position for a human to play good o'l #1.

Oh, and to claim hardcore trekkie status and then say Janeway was best captain is pure sacrilege to the Kirk!!

Im finding it very difficult to find teams to play with on the European server. tried the US server a couple of times. Its very hit and miss as to whether you can get a team

How anyone can call themselves a huge trekkie and hate TNG is not a true trekkie in any frame of mind.

Would be interested in this.
In the UK, a new player but lifelong Trekkie, have had the fortune to meet many of the cast from various Trek guises at conventions, just love it.

Doing my best to learn it all and take it seriously so happy to play whatever role except Captain - not comfy with that yet :)
Been doing ST RP online (SL) since about 2011

Your post mentions PS4 specifically - not sure if that's an old thing where crossplay didn't happen but I'm on the PC and I've been playing with PS4 people most of the time on Ubisoft so I assume that's perfectly doable for you?

Hi all,
last post is from December last year... is anyone still playing?

Yes, a contingent of us are still playing. Donít know how we could get numbers on activity, but I would love to see them. Iíve been doing a bit of searching, finding and linking myself in relation to ďwhoís playing?Ē Or ďwho could be playing.Ē. Some of what Iíve found, thereís a pretty active facebook group: Star Trek Bridge Crew VR where Iíve found the most active players. Theyíve been organizing scheduling play events and the beginnings of competitions as well. Iííve been working on an effort to link up the different trek communities around the game. Iíve reached out to a number of chapters within Star Fleet International to put the game back to the forefront and pass it around...let them know that there are those of us still playing and start organizing to breathe life into the game. Iíve been @Ďing UbisoftVR and RedStorm on Twitter with direct questions about what they need to see in order to start producing dlc and information at a regular pace. Iíve also joined the PlayStations network community around the game. Itís fairly active people post that theyíre playing every few days. When I look at events in the PS community they donít have any. Iím planning to see about creating one in the PSN group to align with what weíre doing on Facebook.

My idea being the more trek communities know about the game the more new players we get, we use a central platform to organize and then start playing with a ďduty rosterĒ: people all over the globe who know or have a schedule for when they typically play, would be the basis for the schedule, then those of us with dynamic play times are linked into the group and crew up around them.

The Facebook group is starting to do competitions...and with comps come leaderboards and adding new organic life to the game...which basically just gives us something to do.

The ultimate purpose behind getting organized is to reach the devs and produce whatís necessary on our end as a user base for them to produce on their end as developers. Because Iíll be honest, playing this game in VR with other Trek faithfuls, I felt it. I really did. I got to suspend disbelief and in a very true way I was serving aboard a trek ship in the trek verse completing missions with 4 other real people all suspending disbelief in just the same way. Being a fan of the shows...all the shows...all the movies...it was true immersion. I was serving my own missions...and I immediately wanted more.

My profession leads me to be a natural organizer, project planner and manager. So, yes thereís a bunch of passion behind my effort and my profession is impacting the expression of that passion. I truly do believe the trek community, intersecting with the gamer community with VR as the platform...is a recipe for major success on all fronts. imagine if they truly built out the rest of the ship, the universe and experience in VR using bridge crew as the origin and real trek communities as the user base... Iím just sayin, could be great. #WeareStarFleet 🖖🏿

That's great! I have just joined the FB group, let's hope we can meet in game at some point!
