I remember reading on some post that you have the saitek force feedback stick, I was wondering what you think of it? I am considering getting one and need some help in my decision, so I thought I would ask you since you seem like of the nicest guys in here.

So what if its slow and it can't climb for crap... http://server5.uploadit.org/files2/050104-new1.JPG

Hi, CLP.
Thanks for the kind words.

When I first got the stick, there were no forces working, and I realized that I needed to get online to DL new drivers for my OS. At the website I learned that the support for this stick, and I would assume any other Saitek product, is tremendous. That's a really big selling point for me.

You can configure different profiles for the stick, and use a button as a "shift" button, so that instead of just a nine button stick, you can have 16 different functions mapped to the stick. (I only use the nine buttons, and there are still two that I rarely use)

The forces, when turned up, will rock you out of the cockpit. I usually keep it turned down to about 50%, and that is plenty, but I do turn it wide open once in a while when I feel a bit wild LOL. The response time is pretty much instantaneous, and was that way on my older machine as well. The centering of the stick is mechanical, as I assume that it is on the MS FFB. My old stick was a logitech, and I thought that it was pretty cool when I first got it, but it centered with an 'analog' spring. It wore out very quickly.

My Saitek Cyborg stick is the same way now that it was over a year ago, just like a new one. I bought it at a local Circuit City, and they offered an extended 3 year warranty for about $11.00 US. If it goes bad for any reason, the will either repair, or replace it at their discretion. The only thing that the warranty does not cover is the lights that are in it. I think that the papers said that the bulb would last about a year, or two, and that the stick would continue to work fine when the light quits working. I have to admit, the lights flashing around the hat switch when I fire my guns are very cool, but I doubt that I will miss that when it finally wears out.

I know that there are other very good sticks out there, and have had a chance to try a few, but this is the one for me. I would highly recomend it to anyone looking for a good joystick. For around fifty bucks you get your money's worth. I think that I paid 60 for it, plust the money for the extended warranty, and I am assured a good stick for another two years, worry free.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the reply my friend, it seems that you are quite happy with the stick. This is very encouraging to hear as it has helped me make up my mind. I guess I'll be off to circuit city to get one of these bad boys. Again thanks for the reply! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
