Hi Im not a FW hater infact its my favorite ac in the sim but IMHO the rollrate is redicules Yes its supposed to be fast I agree but just like Turnrate theres a thing called instant turnrate & sustained turnrate.......

Well it only makes sence that there would be an instant rollrate & sustained rollrate well I realy think the Instant rollrate Is awfully blown out of proportion & makes the ac dam near unflyable now,,,, Ive been flying FW since Il2 so I dont wana hear any learn how to fly it or give me any damed tips how to fly it better, That poor bird has had plenty enough changes down through the patch years & that Instant rollrate has got to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & the acceleration need to go UP !!!

Agreed, especially about acceleration http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I noticed this immediately after patch, the roll comes on so hard I had to lower my joystick settings. It is definitely more of a hinderance than a benefit. Maybe it is because all planes roll too fast in FB, and this is just an unfortunate side-effect http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I use now Mr. Brown's setting for the 190 now to fly it comfortably, but it gives a too slow roll rate on other aircrafts.

About acceleration, I still can't understand why an aircraft like the A-9 with 2270 PS doesn't accelerate faster!!!

A9 had roughly the same acceleration with D9, which places it among the best (especially when light on fuel).

As it is now it's a wonder the cockpit glass isn't cracked by the pilots head when making a fast roll. That could be a feature.. the body of the pilot actually moving so you have to be carefull not to bang your head against anything http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Maybe something for BoB?

if its seriously an issue just create a totally different pilot for flying the FW190 and use much softer joystick sensitivites

then load the fw190 pilot for the 190 and your nornmal pilot for flying anything else

Lets see some evidence of the roll rate acceleration/deceleration at different airspeeds.

IMO, its just right. After you get some real stick time you might realise that not all monoplane aircraft are as unresponsive as an me-323. If you give full stick deflection, the aircraft is going to MOVE; especially with an aircraft with roll rate like the Fw190.

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

Meanwhile somewhere in an alternate universe a bunch of Luftwaffe pilots are sitting in a mess tent arguing how their FW190's are not built to match they way it is in Forgotten Battles......

In real life, single engine monoplanes like the Fw190 have little roll moment of inertia and at any speed where the ailerons are getting a decent flow will reach their highest roll rate in a fraction of a second. Really, about 0.1 sec. This time is so low that even wing cannons don't make too much of a difference, even if it went to 0.2 sec it wouldn't be too noticeable in the cockpit.
Twins, now, are a different story. The P-38 has around 20 times the roll inertia of 190 and maybe 1.5 times more aileron power. That's why, IRL, it had a so-called hesitation when aileron was applied, even with the L model.
