If you "can't miss" the target with that big ol' 37mm .. I gotta ask...

Was it you on the Grassy Knoll??

The P39 is not that slow. and yes you can hose your enemy from a pretty good distance w/ the 303s, but they don't do much good until your close enough to use cannons.

my favorite thing about flying the early hurricane is seeing all those little flashes on the Emil I'm shooting at. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There's a lot of truth in the 'can't miss' nature of some of M4/Ns37/Ns45.

Though they kick the hell out of your aircraft, and you have to re-position after almost every shot, the trajectory of the rounds is very predictable indeed. With enough practice it's really just like reaching out with a fist and hitting the plane in front of you. Against a large straight-and-level target like bombers, you can score kills from quite amazingly long ranges - 600m+ with the right convergence adjustment. Same deal with the MK103 pods, though of course convergence is much more important for wing mounted guns.

Spray-and-pray gets you nowhere with those guns, though - even at point blank range [<50m], the kick on those guns can be enough to throw you out of a tight turn or at least throw your aim right off the target.

Most people find 100/150m convergence appropriate for taking on fighter targets, since at that range there's almost no arc given to the round. Try it out for a day or so and you'll surprise yourself :>
