View Full Version : Is it possible to play with 2 MSFFB2 joysticks at the same time?

Someone told me on this Forum that I could run FB with 2 MSFFB2 joysticks. I plugged in the 2nd joystick today which was instantly recognised. But when I fired up FB it only recognised the 2nd stick. When I went back into controls, all the settings from the 1st joystick had been set back to default.

If the advice I got was correct, I am obviously doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Yes you can use both sticks (I'm now using an X45 and a cyborg evo from Saitek).

I think you have to re-define the axis and keys (on both sticks) now...

It's not that much work and the easiest to do.

If it does not recognize one of the sticks at all, check if windows does see them both under start-control panel-game controllers
and if their status is OK (you might need to calibrate there too).

They must be both USB sticks though...

If there is a problem - there is a "Troubleshoot" button there too that might get you further...

To tweak out the second sticks axis if you plan too use them. Read This Thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=49310655&m=608101321) It should get you enough info to carry on, with your plans.

Have you checked your Private Topics recently? (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=ugtpc&s=400102)

Just read the other post you linked to on calibrating joysticks, helped me heaps. Anyway you mentioned that your m8 had a logitech which was spiking badly and you set the first 4 sliders to 0 to compensate. I have had 3 logitech wingman force3d's in 9 months, they have all started jittering badly on the rudder pot after 2 months, I put up with it for a month in the hope that its just me, then finally pluck up the courage to take it back to the store for a replacement. My current stick goes back sometime this week, this will make the replacement stick number 4 in the drama. I spose I can't complain really as I still have a brand new stick after 10 or so months from original purchase date lol. The point of my long winded post being that if Csob needs to recalibrate every day, something I have to do at present also, then maybe the joystick is faulty. Some stores will actually put faulty joysticks back into circulation as being brand new product after having been returned by a previous owner, sounds alarming but it has been my experience. Maybe your joystick is not so new as you were led to believe when you purchased it Csob?

Oops ,,, looks like I forgot what the original post was about 2 joysticks hmm I'm going senile.

You can do that but IMO you would be better off putting one of thos FFB sticks in it's box and saving it as a spare..since they are like dinosaur eggs now... and getting a Satek X45 and using that as a second stick. You could use the X45 stick as a button bay and snce the sticks spring is so stiff you would have minimal movement and just use the throttle. With the programmability of ther X45 and a little creativity you couls have every single function available in FB mapped to your sticks and then some. You can also expand the programmability of your MSFFB stick by using a button on your X45 as CTRL/ALT/SHIFT in modes 1,2 & 3. and programming some of the MSFFB buttons accordingly.... for example a different command for 1,Alt+1,CTRL+1,SHIFT+1 etc. all on the same button that way you can get four commands off of one button. You will run out of stuff to program before you run out of buttons. Especially since you can just delete the commands for things like the throttle and prop pitch buttons since you can assign them to a slider in the HOTAS section and use thodse keys for something else.

Thanks guys for your input. Now that I know it can be done I'll try again.

Thanks also for that link T.O.A.D. Lots of good stufff there for me to try.

And you raise a good point Bearcat. I got the 2nd MSFFB2 when I heard MS was withdrawing from producing and supporting the joystick. I also have a spare Logitech Wingman 3D stick so maybe I'll put the second MSFFB2 back in it's box and use the Logitech for additional mapping.
