I'm thinking of buying a new LCD monitor and wondering how does it look on IL2 FB.

And also I did a research on the web about the LCD's, and found out that major disadvandage of LCD's are the "Dead Pixels". - http://www6.tomshardware.com/display/20030319/index.html

And my major concern is when does this dead pixel is going to appear on my screen??
Has any of you encountered this problem on your LCD yet?

Thanks for reading. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

There was big discussion about LCD vs CRT in the PL. I think it comes down to personal preferences. I prefer CRT and i like the way FB looks on CRT. Some say it`s the same and only resolution restrictions and lower referesh rate makes a slight difference.
Bottom line...LCD has some strong points, CRT has some. But there is always price that comes in between... For the price of good 17" LCD you can get nice 21" CRT FLT. And i have to tell ya... on that puppy IL2/FB looks stunning /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I have an 19' Samsung 191T (digital) and I believe it is the best screen I have ever owned. The picture is sharp and the colour is great. I did a huge amount of research before making the purchase and like you, I was deeply concerned about dead pixels. I finally decided to make the purchase when I found a store which told me that they would replace the monitor, if there was even one dead pixel. I have owned the monitor since March and, no dead pixels.

That was a good read Ivan, thanks for the link.

And thanks blairgowrie, it makes me feel more positive towards LCD monitors. I'm very interested on this LCD monitor :

Make sure you can return it. I bought a Samsung 191T and before that a 17" Hitachi. I found ghosting in both running IL2 and FB so I'm back with a new 19" CRT until the next generation of LCDs.

BTW, I loved the Samsung. Brilliant monitor and well put together but right now the state of LCD development isn't at the same level as CRTs and they're still expensive.

You'd be daft NOT to get an LCD! They are far superior to those giant dinosaur CRT's. Dead pixels are not a problem. They will be seen all the time if it has any, but if you see the one you want working and it has none, it never will. They have all but been elliminated in the manufacturing process today. Oleg uses them.

Have you looked at these? http://www.neovo.com/index.htm I have the S-19 and I realy like it. I like the Optical filtered glass on the front. I like the way it looks and it makes cleaning a snap! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Also it has a very low response time somthing like 15-10ms wich is very important for gaming. Check em out. I paid 900.00 US a few months ago but I know they have come down in price by a couple hundered dollars since then. As is always the case.

beware the inch" screen format differs between Crt and lc
wasn't the Crt smaller because of the rounded screen?
