Is it me or the graphics are awfull or they don't know a resolution higher than 640X480?

Yeah, um.... that Corsair in the "decoy" shot looks amazing, but the decoy looks like it's got 30 polys, and the revetment around it like it's got 20 polys.

I hope those are just early versions or the graphics setting have been turned way down.

The textures overall don't look very convincing - too blurry or not detailed enough. Maybe when you're flying past at 350mph it's a different story, but in a still shot, they don't convince me. (Sorry - just an honest opinion).

Considering the palm trees and the water-effects, I don't mind low-poly revetments and decoys. They do the job, textures are pretty good.

I would assume the decoys were pretty boxy-looking up close anyway.

It is just scary, it remind me when i tryied microsoft sims 3 i was in chock when i saw how bad was the graphic for a 21 century game.

SO i really hope that it's just a test or some kind but PF will be release pretty soon. so i hope they will eye candy it.

wickedpenguin, it looks, like you have serious math problems. It is obviuos, that this "revetment", which is actually a blast pen, has AT LEAST 34 triangles. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
And you can see, how actually this blast pen looked like here:

For me there's no big difference between the model and the photograph...

Yeah...as I understand it...those structures were very angular and adding polys just doesn't make any sense since they really didn't have much "detail" to themselves.

The decoys of course are the same sort of thing. From high alt they give the appearance of additional aircraft...from low alt they look like a bunch of sheets hung together which I believe is what they were going for.

Ground textures are the "same" as the ones in the AEP Pacific map. They are quite decent and should do the trick nicely. I think anistropic filtering is off BTW.

I played the game at Quakecon. The decoys are are low poly but they do the job at high altitude. As far as the screenshots go I don't think they are using AA. The game was on display on a Geforce 6800 equipped system. It looked gorgeous. The water looks awesome and the plane models are very sharp. There is a noticeable difference in the quality of graphics between PF and FB.

yeaa like csf3 you have to get high if you want to feel like looking at The ground...if you can..

It suX!
It is outrageous to see this kind of graphics.Period. Decoys or not.. rather get off some unusful palms trees instead.

Do i feel like PF is just a way to make money? and th epassion is gone?

Yes. The irony being that you will buy it anyway.

I think its unrealistic to expect anything beyond the graphics already in IL2 or FB.

This is just another addon/sequel with the same engine. Despite that, I think what they have added will be worth the price.

BoB will have the big improvements you seek, if the dev shots are any indication.

Obviously the graphics aren't even all the way up, it's likely the terrain detail is not at peak quality. Hell, AA isn't even on from what I see.

As for the decoy's... Come on, they were made out of planks or inflatable rubber sections. They were made to look like planes in recon photos from 20,000 feet, not to be convincing 100 feet off the ground.

Decoys that don't look exactly like real aircraft? The developers are all sell-outs! It's all a big joke! The Illuminati are out to get you! I'm not buying it!

Obviously a decoy's not going to have all the detail of a real aircraft - it is after all made with 2x4's.

However, my main issue is with the textures - they look so flat.

Also, the revetments just seem to be hovering over the ground. I thought at first it was a shadow thing, but noticed that the time seems to be noon so it wouldn't have a shadow. However, it just pops out too much. Maybe if the texture underneath inside the revetment wasn't so much like the surrounded texture (like if it had wheel tracks, stains, footprints, etc.) it would be better.

Anyways... moving on....

You guys overreact so much!

I'm fairly certain that it will look better on my system, despite it being a Radeon 9700Pro. Forgotten Battles already looks better on my system than that screen shot...I don't think we should worry.

They ran with some default video card settings with no AA and no AF so things are going to look less sharp. I'm sure their FPS were through the roof http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
