Is there a way to make the hatswitch view inside the cockpit go smoother? (more like the mouse-look).
Thanks. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There's a program called JoyToKey that allows you to map mouse emulation to joystick hat switches. You can find it here (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA016823/joytokey/english.html).

I'm afraid I can't help with that bit, I have native mouse emulation with my X45 and don't need JoyToKey.

DD_NL, run the "joy-to-key", on the right screen You'll find POV1 and POV2 settings, these are for Your hat switch(es). Go to POV1 up, down, R, L, and double click to set it's action. When new screen appears, click on "MOUSE" tab and move vertical and horizontal sliders to positive and negative values. That will set Your mouse X and Y axis emulation (the higher the value, the faster hat swith moves the cursor). Then click OK and You're done. DO NOT turn the application off. It must work in the background when You run FB. Try it Yourself, It works quite good.
Hope this helps, salute!

Ok, got that part to work, thanks. The next problem is that it wont stay, so after I release the POV it resets to the front view.
There a way to make it stay?

Hi Tully,

I too use the X45 (usb model) - but the hat switch on the stick moves left and right for example in 'steps' - (3 pushes right to look over your shoulder for example). Is that what you mean, or is there a way to get it smoother - ie. like moving a mouse left and right??

Would like to try it if you can tell me how to set it up.

Cheers

What you've described is the ingame Pan view mode. You can get full smooth panning by assigning mouse emulation to one of your hat switches in your X45 game profile (not using the ingame assignments). You need to have the driver installed in Advanced User mode, then you can assign any one of the four hats on the stick to emulate mouse. The instructions are fairly easy to follow in the SST documentation.

It's best to make sure you have the latest version of SST downloaded from Saitek, some of the older versions didn't do this so well.

What Tully said... I use the little "nipple" alternatively, the one on the throttle control.

Hey I just downloaded and installed this and it works like a dream!

You got to make sure that you change your control settings in FB to stop using the hat switch otherwise it is trying to do mouse look with this proggie and pan view at the same time.

Looks like this is going to make a big difference to my game... I can actually see my instruments now without using the mouse.

Wicked!
