The Sea Hurricane participated in combats off Ceylon during 1942.

The aircraft itself was almost identical to the land Hurricane, the wings did not fold and the only addition was a tailhook. There were 3 major models, Sea Hurricane I which was the same as the Hurricane I, the IC which was the same except that it had 4 20mm cannon and the Sea Hurricane II, which was the same as the Hurricane IIC. There was nothing comparable to the IIB.

Easy to include, and a nice addition to the planeset. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks

"THe trick is was it in the pacific?"

No.

There's at least two threads on this already...

There is no such thing as a plane, or any feature at all for that matter that is easy to include. It all takes a huge amount of work.

Are you sure it wasn't in the Pacific? DEidn't the Hurricane fly in defense of Malaya and Singapore? Or are we discussing the Sea Hurricane solely? I'm sure the Sea Hurricane Flew SOMEWHERE in the Pacific. And now since PF will be an add-on to FB, it's amoot point. Put it in.

Personnally, i would prefer a "what if" like the sea hurricane to a "what if" like the tigercat... But of course, this is a personal opinion.

I have found absolutely nothing that says the *Sea* Hurricane was in the PTO. The closest it got was off of Sri Lanka.

"And now since PF will be an add-on to FB, it's amoot point. Put it in."

Whoa, hold on there. Now this is still a Pacific game being developed, just because it can be integrated with the other planeset does not mean that limited development time should be taken away from Pacific aircraft to make non-Pacific aircraft. Case in point, the Hurricane with the 40mm cannons would be far more appropriate because it was actually *in the theater*.

The race for the mess has begun.

I presume it will be a pain to find PF servers with clever and historical aircrafts choice http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Calm down Penguin. If somone wants to model it, then someone will. I'm sure Luthier has his priorities and that he will make sure we get the planes in PF that make sense. But every competent modeller out there isn't hard at work on PF. And if one of those wants to do it, I say more power to them.

And BTW, I haven't seen anything that says the Sea Hurricane ABSOLUTELY didn't fly in the Pacific. Say this or that "never" happened in war time is usually the quick way to be proved wrong. Always leave yourself a little wiggle room in these discussions.

Oh, I'm calm. No worries.

The Fleet Air Arm Archive website says that the Sea Hurricane was pretty much "out of service" after 1943. Operational history there lists the aircraft being used off of Sri Lanka, at Malta, and the Atlantic, but not the Pacific. I did find one reference to a carrier being deployed to the Pacific with them, but the writing is a little ambiguous and when you check the history for 824 Squadron (the squadron the carrier was, well, CARRYING) they were not using Sea Hurricanes anymore when they were deployed to the Pacific.

The way you worded it, it did not sound like you were asking somebody third-party to make the plane. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Pengui_PFF you're right. I also can't find any info or proof that Sea Hurri was in the Pacific. However, hookless Hurri's were aboard some carriers in Pacific. HMS Indomitable was one carrier that was reinforcing Far East sqn's with fresh RAF Hurri's (Ceylon, Sumatra). But inspite that it would be nice to have Hurri with hook. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Sea Hurri would be cool!!

As would the Sea Gladiator!!! 60 Mk.Is and Mk.IIs were modded into Sea Gladiators at the factory, with the addition of a tail hook, and a wee dinghy pack attached on the underside of the fuselage (also had some modification to the MG casing ejection chute so the casings would go overboard). Virtually the same flight characteristics, cept it was 4mph slower than the RAF Glads.

Also, there was a 2 blade variable pitch prop added coz it gave a better take off speed, or something.

BUT....

....it didn't serve in the pacific; was active around Malta, and Norway for the most part.

whit ye looking at, ya big jessie?!?!
