Hello all,

How do I set my rotary knobs using the profiler? I want one of the knobs to control elevator trim and the other prop pitch.

Also, how do I make the pinky switch act like a snap look up?

Thanks

Your rotaries can be set up in game in the Hotas section of controls. That how I set mine for same reasons.

The other I have never messed with.

Have you checked your Private Topics recently? (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=ugtpc&s=400102)

For the trim controls, don't use the profiler. Leave them as axis/slider controls and assign them to trim/pitch in the "HOTAS CONTROLS" section at the bottom of the game's controls assignments screen.

Do you use the pinky switch as a shift button? If not, making it act as snap look up is easy. IIRC correctly, the default key for snap look up is Numpad_5. Just profile the pinky switch to Numpad_5.

Edit: your look mode should be in Snap mode rather than Pan mode for the pinky thing to work. Default snap/pan toggle is F9.

Since someone asked, ill post my x.45 problem here too. Every time i load a profile i need to press the mouse fire button or else I get a dialog box asking me if i wanna delete this file file(sometimes i get 5-10 of em) If i use my "regular" mouse. Anyone know how to get rid of this annoying thing.

You have controls that use the Del key assigned on the Aux switch. That switch is "held down" and always sends a signal. You'll need to assign those controls to a different joystick button or re-assign them in the game so that they don't use the delete key. Likely it's the Zoom/Normal/Wide view controls, so it may fix it to simply leave the Aux switch in one of the other positions until you're in game.

I think I have a better solution than Tully's (no offense http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ).

I can't think of a better use for the AUX switch than for view zoom in and out, where Aux0 is Zoom Out (PageDown), Aux1 is Normal (End), and Aux2 is Zoom In is Delete. BUT!!!--you have to set these up as a "New Advance Command" using the profile editor for that key (right click on Aux0 and select New Advance Command. then with the cursor in the "Press" box, quickly hit and release the PAGE DOWN button--the result you will see is that in the "Press" box, there will be a depressed Page down button with 0.00 under it and an up Page Down button with 0.06 (if you were fast) under it. Also, under the "Release" box, the up Page Down will be shown with a default time of 0.00)

This effectively makes the switching of the position of the Aux switch to only send the key command ONCE every time you change. No more problems, no more mess, and default startup of your profile will not cause ANY commands to be sent, let alone repeated ones.

I believe in keeping the default configurations as best possible, just in case you have to do a re-install of the game at a later point in time and lose your custom in-game settings.

I was wondering if you ever read my reply. Not that I have a huge ego or anything, just that when I did the "step-by-step", it took a while to organize and type. I'm glad you appreciated it and 'you are welcome!'

Someday soon, I'm going to start a help site that includes what I've learned about flight simming and IL2:FB. I already have a domain name reserved (simace.com), just no content yet (that whole family and 2 jobs thing). I'm a terrible flyer, but an excellent researcher and I love this sim/game.
