Does anyone know whether Oleg and his workers are still aiming towards a Battle Of Britain release as well as a PF release????

Oh, it's in the works. They will probably take their time with it and it won't come out at least until 2006. Which will be fine, cos I will be squeezing every last drop out of PF until then.

BoB? Who cares, once I get PF, I doubt I'll buy another flight sim for the rest of my life.

Well, not really. Probably get BoB in its first week out. But with PF to play with, I can wait a couple of years.

the last Oleg Maddox posted about the release of BoB is that they were planning on a Mid 2005 release

if you have more up-to-date info from the web , then do please post a link for us all

Whenever BoB comes out (I'm thinking 2006 as well), it better reek with atmosphere and mood. After seeing the latest movies of SHIII, BoB could be simply amazing. I would really like to see a fleshed out dynamic campaign - one that focuces some attention on the new pilot training process. Lots of build up before the $hit hits the fan. For the Luftwaffe guys, they could have the Spanish Civil War as a prelude to the battle of France and Battle of Britain. Whatever they do, they have plenty of immersion, atmosphere stuff to work from. If they blew it, it won't be for lack of material.

Hey Stubby, I like your ideas about atmosphere. The only hitch is to make it work where the avid player doesn't tire of the interface. In that respect I thought that EAW did it just right; remember how you could change the station on the radio? And to leave the game you request leave and it was reflected in your logbook by the dates of your kills? That stuff was great.
I suspect that Oleg is gonna' blow everyone away with BoB. Imagine a truely dynamic campaign where if the Lufwaffe WON control of the air and hence the BoB you could have Sealion, the invasion of Britain by German troops by ship. Think about it, the ship modeling in PF includes all types of landing craft, etc <ggg.> I'd bet the farm that while PF will be a blast, BoB is gonna' make other sims look like an arcade game in comparison. All the best, LongHorn

I think it'll be hard to say when BoB comes out. I would expect that Oleg will want it just right. More to the point, I expect that he'll want it just right because it'll form the basis of all of his new sims for the next few years.

I'm also expecting to have to upgrade, despite the fact that I can run FB on Perfect mode with my system that is now a year old. So don't rush it too much...the more time between the game release and now means more time for better hardware to become cheaper.

I'm looking forward to some new authenticity in terms of the FM, the graphics (clouds especially), and dynamic campaigns are going to be good fun. Not to mention that the Battle of Britian is an excellent time to represent and its a great starting point. I also hope that the Battle of France and Battle of Poland groups manage to get their stuff into the package. That'd be fantastic too!

Hey Texas,

I'm with ya, 100%! I've got a good vibe overall that we'll be very happy. I think Oleg understands that folks loved Il2:AEP but thought it lacked some soul. Most folks have some sort of keen, romatic attraction to BoB and I'm sure Oleg is aware of that. Nobody can really argue about the fidelity of the IL2 game but it did lack that thing you mentioned about EAW. EAW had sould and plenty of character. I agree about some 'immersion' bones that could get tiresome to some. Hopefully, they'll develop escape keys or alternate paths so that folks that don't want those immersion bells and whistles can skip them. For the rest of us that want to bask in the glory of it all (ie, lads sipping tea at the dispersal hut waiting to scramble while listening to Kate Smith sing "Blue Birds over, the White Cliffs of Dover"). Like the former Rick James once said - 'Give it to me baby!'.

How to add to the atmosphere of BoB:

RAF:
1. Buy RAF uniform
2. Buy deckchair and old phonograph and position at other end of house from computer
3. Wait for scramble signal, and then run through the house to the computer and start flying.
4. Finish mission and celebrate with warm, flat beer.

LW:
1. Buy very snappy looking LW uniform
2. Move to France.
3. Run bath of very cold water
4. Play mission until shot down, then sit in
bath for 3 hours until 'rescue'.

lol good one.
We can mod this...

RAF:
1. Buy RAF uniform
2. Buy deckchair and old telephone and position at other end of house from computer
3. Wait for girlfiend to call on phone, and then don't answer but run through the house to the computer and start flying.
4. Finish mission by which time suspicious girlfriend comes over to see what you are doing but you fall asleep instead.

Don't forget that all pilots should throughly lube up the head with ample amounts of Dapper Dan Hair Glop to really get into the vibe.
