I can't stop playing it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. It's really late but I may still take that 110 for one last spin. B-17's lookout!

Yes it is awesome. And for those that don't have it yet, disregard allot of these BS threads around here. Some are having issues with it not installing correctly. These problems are easily eradicated. The majority installed over 1.22 with no problems. Oleg explains allot in ORR. Awesome it is! S!

This expansion pack is as much fun as when I got FB. Wow, amazing, astounding, incredible.

They even changed a few things that I noticed last night.

- Blackouts come faster.

- Seemingly better E retention down low than high, as it takes longer to slow down for landing.

- The AAA seem to have a bit more power in their guns. Since last night, one shot took off my wing three times in a row. That hasn't happened since a few patches ago.

- Acceleration seems a bit tamed, but speed is still OK.

Overall, a great price for a great addition to an already awesome game. And to think, a free add-on coming with even more planes soon.

Wow, thanks Oleg and 1C. I noticed they have wised up and included universal Divorce Papers with each copy of AEP now.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm nursing a really SORE throat, so I was only up till 2am this morning. First thing this morning, I played AEP.All.trk (or whatever its called) for my little boy. He had to get on the bus before it was finished, and I promised him that he could watch all of it when he gets home. I've never been HAPPIER with one of Oleg's releases, and this is by no means a disapointment to me.

I'm learning to fly Gib's P-38, and I need to run a roll-rate test for him, since I have an AMD machine, but I have to go to the doctor in a few minutes, so it will have to wait. I was surprised to find that the J rolls faster than the L model, and even more surprised that the GO-229 rolls faster than both of them. Still, I am sure that even if this doesn't get fixed, I will continue to fly the P-38's.

Now, about the gripes concerning the P-38's gun shake. I was a little put back when I read the posts that were complaining about it. My friend, Skidro, personally knows two P-38 aces . . . yes, ACES! The only thing that I heard from the interviews with these two guys (Art Heiden, and Jack Ilfrey) who both flew in the 79th FS, 20th FG, was the incredible stability of the Lightning as a gun-platform. Ilfrey said that he would take it over the P-51 for that reason. So I was a bit down when I read these posts because I didn't have the addon yet. Well, now I have it, and I don't know what the heck those guys are talking about. I see vibration, yes, but not enough to shake me off target! Think of the armament, all on the nose of this baby! If it never shook around, a little at least, it would be totally UNREAL! I am no ace, said it before, but I intend to be a force to be reckoned with in this plane. I've wanted it in this sim since I first played IL2. I will NOT slap those in the face that have worked so hard to bring it to us. Since I was a little boy watching US tv go off the air, and saw that bird for the first time as the national anthem played, I wanted to fly one. I would have given the entire 30 bucks for that one plane, and as was mentioned, we got these flyables for a dollar apiece!

I suppose that we have the right to question a flight model, or to bring data. Also to politely suggest other changes, but not to pi$$ and moan when it took so MUCH to get these planes, maps, and missions into our hands. It cost Gibbage his day job. Its cost Oleg his health, and its cost his team many hours of work for which the reward was unknown. Ubi had to take a chance on the distribution, just as they do for every release (although, in my mind, this addon was pretty much a sure thing).

Now, Folks, please, do as those in this thread have done, and show some appreciation . . . don't scare our friends over in Europe out of getting this wonderful addon! And probably more important . . . don't show them what a lot of ungrateful whiners we Yanks are. And if you do, then do not wonder why the rest of the world thinks that we are all spoiled brats.

What's this AEP_All track whatsit? Is a track file you can only watch with the AEP, or is it an mpg/avi or something those of us who don't have the AEP can drool over?

If the latter I'll probably download it, if only to highten the agony of waiting.

There are new demo tracks with AEP, and just like there was an All.trk with the original FB, There is an All_AEP.trk that will play all the new tracks, one right after the other.

One correction to Tsisqua's post above, Capt. Heiden was not an ace he was , however the wingman to another 79th. Ftr. Sqdn. ace, Lindol Graham. Jack was one of the first P-38 aces (some say the first.) Both loved flying the aircraft.

Both Ilfrey and Heiden have frequently commented on the amazing roll rate of the P-38, Jack said it was good going back as far as the F Model, in fact. (He scored 4 of his 6 kills in the F Model.)

As far as a gun platform both have said it was very stable and extremely deadly. The aircraft had it's faults but I've never heard of gunshake being one of them. I will ask a few of the former 20th. Ftr. Grp. pilots I'm in contact with and see what they have to say.

Any way you can get Jack or Art to review the P-38 in IL2?

Gibbage, I truly wish I could get Jack or Art involved in Flight Simming but Jack is computer-illiterate and when I offered to send Art a copy of a flight sim several years ago he declined the offer. Neither are in very good health.

In looking through some e-mails from Art for items to include on an upcoming CD-Rom project I'm working on, I did find where he stated that it took about 4 to 5 seconds for a P-38J to roll.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Capt. Heiden his P-38, "Lucky Lady" was the one that appeared on the Classic American Aviation stamp series back in 1997. He retired from aviation in the 80's with over 25,000 hours which include a completed tour of 300 combat hours in P-38s and P-51s plus stints as a P-40 and P-51 instructor. He was responsible for Martin Caidin writing "Fork-Taled Devil" and wrote the final chapter of the book.

I will check around for you Gib and see if I can find any former P-38 jocks who might try her out for ya. The best I can offer right now is to get their opinion on the cockpit and exterior of the aircraft.

BTW, I haven't flown her yet but none the less I thank you for the hard work of creating her and I thnak Oleg for finally adding her to the game!
