I saw some of your posts on the uberdemon UQMG. Did you download it and do you like it? I got it yesterday and, like you, I am not a computer genius but I think it has unlocked this sim for me. Now onto why I am posting to you... I just wanted to tell you how much I like your work. I'm sure you hear it alot, but I'll say it anyway. In particular I love the classic picture "Warm Welcome" that show Foss and co arriving at Cactus in the early dark days of the campaign. Great stuff. I love the Pacific and can't get enough of it... Another qestion - in "Guadalcanal Ambush" you show marines with helmet covers which were not used in '42. Am I missing something? And don't take this as unnecessary nitpicking - as I said, I think it is great to see someone who does work on the Pacific and I love your work. Would like to gear from you if you get a chance.

Okay, I needed to spellcheck what I posted... What I meant was , would like to hear from you, not gear from you. There were some other misspellings too but anyway...

You got me!! Let's see - I did get UQMG to work & did a very simple mission on same ...it wasn't terribly difficult( esp after I'd emailed the inventor for help& been told to read the install-instructions thoroughly- I'm a guy - I'd hoped for devine intravention...)I( have & )want to use the game for reference on a future painting & lighting conditions over the Mountain Map at different times of day & I can now do that! It does offer the chance to make massive missions too , but time & computer limitations curtail such fun ...To be honest just doing the 3 or 4 campaigns right now take every bit of spare timeaway from the drawing table ( I don't know what I'll do when the Aces add-on comes out later ( fingers crossed ) this month!!!
Thanks for comments about art work I do try hard to get things reasonably right( & I get a lot of help from real experts too!!) Your one question was helmet covers right? Well to tell the truth the art work you are referring to was a book cover done about 15 years ago,& ( picky, picky, picky) you are probably correct ! Absolute accuracy ( or for that mattergreat composition ) weren't really necessary requirements for this work - speed to meet deadlines however was! As I remember you could get 2 of these three things but never all things: Quality , Speed & Value....

P.s . I don't know if this plug is exactly cricket - but you can check out a few newer examples of my work at my publisher's site: www.jamesdietz.com...& (http://www.jamesdietz.com...&) I've got to tell you my work has fallen off ( quanity-wise)a bit since Il-2 came into my life!

I need to chime in to say that Mr Dietz has been, for some time, my favorite WWI and WWII Aviation artist...I had two of his artworks hanging in my FlightSim Den/Playroom.... I saw his screenname here a year or so ago, and confirmed that he actually Was THE James Dietz!! ...AND, an avid flyer of IL2/IL2:FB

This is a painting by Mr Dietz which I was given many years ago, upon departure from a unit I had been commanding. It's one of my Favorite possesions:

I now have another of his great paintings(lithographs), called "Tough Day", hanging on my wall!!

This series of LW and RAF pilots and their planes and sports cars and dogs is Superb! I have images of these on my site(See SigBlock Below), in the ArtWork Branch. Check them out, then buy one of his Real Lithograph Print versions at his publisher's site. In Fact, here are some small file size images:

Night Hawks

By the way, if any of you had/have the B17 Flying Fortress II game, you'll recognize this Box Cover Art, which is a painting by Mr Dietz!!!!

Hey wiley - thanks for the ink! What you forgot to add was that without your gracious help I'd still be plugging away with the original game & that thanks to you , i've been able to download every addition ,every mission & every bit of Music & dialog...as a matter of fact I spend more time managing the collections of skins , missions, pilots, patches , musical themes,& attending this General discussion page than I do actually playing the Flushuggner Game! But thanks anyway!

Mr. Dietz,

Good to hear back from you. I tried to access your website from the link you posted but it would not come up. I would like to see more of your work. Also I think it's great that you are enjoying FB so much... the UQMG has really unlocked it for me too. If it's convenient could you send me your email address? Thanks,

Henry

Thanks guys! Believe it or not I have used this game for reference in one of my illustrations !!! Last year DC Comics asked me to do a cover for Enemy Ace& it was to feature German & Russian planes , so I used Clip art to get a/c illuminated as I wanted them to base my drawing on...everything worked like a charm & for a while I featured the image as part of my posting thanks ( again ) to Wiley...Somewhere the image was lost ( on one of my PC meltdowns) so I can't show it to you , but it was fun to combine my business & hobby in one job!!
