Second in my series of well worn war weary old B-17 schemes and is based upon the Aircraft " Thunderbird " a B 17 belonging to the 303 BG at Molesworth UK 1944. I have produced this war weary skin as a tribute to the crews that flew her, A true veteran of the war, Thunderbird flew no less than 112 bombing missions from Molesworth. Although a well used aircraft, she eventually became a "first mission ship," given to new crews to get them off to a good start--and a good start it was, as no regular crew member was ever injured on a Thunderbird mission.Poor old "Thunderbird" looked terrible when she retired. She had been the first un-camouflaged B-17 to arrive at the 303rd. For fear of drawing German attention, she was painted olive drab and grey without the benefit of a primer coat. Much of the paint had worn off the nose.

DL'd it this morning. Great job, and an interesting sidelight about the paint and wear.

Winning isn't everything;
It's the only thing!
