Dear UQMG users from the IL-2 FB Community,

(Download and Installation Instructions in the bottom of this post.)

I am extremely excited to announce the immediate availability of the most exciting UQMG upgrade to date, not only it brings all new features of patch 2.01 through the planned features of 2.04 for IL-2 FB AEP, it provides every upgrade released for UQMG to date. It is free, of course, and will bring your UQMG to version 4.4.4. I will highlight the most important features below. All in all, IL-2 FB will bring you now more enjoyment than ever with the new features in UQMG.

* With the previous upgrade, I brought you UQMG to include ALL 43 maps in IL-2/FB/AEP/patches. Now I bring you the total culmination of my last few years of work on UQMG. I have included the ability to customize each aircraft in a flight (Pilot Skills, Aircraft Skins, Pilot Skins, Ability to define a flight as AI only for Coop). The features of the new Skin Editor Interface - available in the Flight Editor are included below:
- Edit Skin for each aircraft in an original flight
- Edit AI Skill for each aircraft in an original flight
- Edit Pilot Skin for each aircraft in an original flight
- FULLY COMPATIBLE with Cloning, so you can have large formations of aircraft with customized features all done in seconds.
- Ability to RANDOMIZE Skins, Skills and Pilot Skills for original and Clone Flights
- Ability to make flight only available as an AI flight in Coop
- Display/preview Aircraft/Pilot skins
- Quick Config, Time saving features
- Load and save skin/skill/pilot features to/from "uqmg" mission data files (UQMG is still compatible with previous version uqmg data files, so all your previous missions are compatible with UQMG)

* UQMG Exclusive - Ability to randomize Clone Flight type AS WELL AS their skins! So if you have randomized clones, they will have the correct randomized skins applicable to the particular type of aircraft.

* 3 New sample uqmg data missions to get you going with the new features. The missions are located in the "save\upgrd0008". Typically I include more missions, but these are just so you can sample the new features and go on with creating your own. The CFS-like template mission may take 1 to 2 minutes to generate because of the 99 waves with random skin, skill and pilot feature.

* LIMITATION: Patch 2.04, is not released yet, but as of the currently known features, only one of them has effect on UQMG, namely two bomb ordinances for the Hurricane II.b. For your convenience, this UQMG already includes that feature. Until patch 2.04 comes out, simply don't use the two bombloads for compatibility with patch 2.01.

* THANK YOU:
- My wife, Jai; who put up with years of IL-2 abuse, and still does.
- Shift_E, the creator of QMT, for providing an inspiration for the creation of the Skin Editor, support, for offering to help, and for not minding me developing a type of feature comparable with what he had already done.
- DOM and Avatar of SimHQ forums for constantly pushing me to include Skin features
- tsisqua and Bearcat99 of UbiSoft forums for always providing overwhelming moral support
- Walter Pedrao, for bringing the P-47s to IL-2
- Jambock Virtual Squadron, the primier Brazilian Virtual Squadron
- Starshoy and Lowengrin for amazing Campaign Generators - my initial inspiration years ago
- Ian Boys for amazing skins, who made me give up on graphics and stick to programming
- Butch2k, a great friend and most knowledgeable military history expert I have come across
- Siggi, for constantly cracking me up, and for being one of the IL-2 community pioneers
- Ilya/Luthier for being the most dedicated IL-2/FB/AEP resource outside of Oleg and his team
- Finally my greatest and humblest admiration and thanks to Oleg Maddox...

To install this upgrade:
========================
* Download WinZIP file from http://www.uberdemon.com
* UnZIP it in the directory you installed UQMG for IL2 FB (most likely "c:\program files\uberquickfb"). Best way to do that is to Right Click on the zip file and then go to the Winzip options, then select "Extract Here".
* Start UQMG as usual.
* ONLY INSTALL UPGRADE AFTER YOU'VE RUN THE ORIGINAL UQMG INSTALLATION SUCCESSFULLY AND PLAYED AT LEAST ONE UQMG GENERATED MISSION IN IL-2 FB!!!! IF YOU INSTALL UPGRADE BEFORE YOU RUN UQMG, IT WILL NEVER WORK. If you do that you will need to uninstall UQMG from the Windows Control Panel, then manually erase the UQMG directory, then you will need to re-install it, go through every step without skipping anything, then run it, follow instructions when running, generate a mission, if successful then install upgrade. Needless to say, read the instructions.
* If you get asked to overwrite a file, say "Yes to All".

Yes there is. Put a check in the custom start location box for enemy. Also click the help icon near there for a detailed explanation of what this allows you to do.

great uber, just one question though.
when you create a mission, the waypoints are generated automaticly.
any way to modify them for each flight ?
or do you have to load the mission in FMB in order to modify the waypoints.
thanx

You are correct.

Each "Mission Type" is a template. So As far as the waypoints, they are similar. The only thing you'd be able to do would be to actually drag the waypoints to the locations you want. May still be better than creating from scratch, since they already have the plane, skill, etc settings you want. Same applies to the clones. Although you can have countless clones, a typical mission won't have that many, so you would just drag the clones as well...

Not sure how much help UQMG really is for campaign building... probably not much... but from the beginning, I wanted people to be able to edit the UQMG generated missions from the FMB if they so desired, that is why there is a Cache of last missions generated.

You can't really do that with the QMB. The mission templates for QMB are imbedded in the encrypted files so it is loaded into memory with the parameters you select. I wanted to do more with those missions, so I took that into consideration when I created UQMG. (I mean, there is a way, but it involves tinkering with a track file.)

So how much work goes into creating a DCG template? or a DGen template?

Kanno is correct. I am assuming you are already a user, correct?

If so, you can select one of several maps that have the "Attack Enemy Airfield" template.

Check the custom start for the enemy flight and then select the enemy flight you want. Say you want Bf-109G-2s. Make sure you select "Start on Runway". Now you can have 4 planes in the flight, and select 3 Clones, giving you a total of 16 planes that will start on the runway.

Now start your flight in the air, and start strafing away.

You can also "Switch Army w/ Planes" and select the "Defend Friendly Airfield" for the enemy's perspectice... you have to scramble to intercept.

You could actually pick any template and put enough delay for you to reach the enemy base when the enemy spawn in the field then you start strafing.

You could also have the Clone or copy flights appear in waves, giving you a supply of re-spawning planes to strafe. I included a couple of "Vulching" templates in upgrade 0005 (go to save/upgrd0005 directory), so you can load that mission and go for it...

There are really endless variations... you just have to experiment with it.

Good luck.

unfortunately no... UQMG as a Quick Generator has some limitations in its scope. The missions are based on templates, but you have so many variations on how and where to start the missions that you can have infinite variations... for example, now that you can have separate skills per planes, you'd be surprised how different each mission's result can be.

So in so many words... yes, FMB would be the way to edit the waypoints. If you have QMT, which interacts well with UQMG, you can edit the points. You can download the last version of it at my site as well. Shift_E has stopped support for it but it is still a fine application.

Don't you love it when the answer is YES?

OK, Yes... but it depends what you really mean with your question.

In UQMG, go to the menu, specifically the Tools menu, now select "Change Default Options..."

There are 3 ways you can define the state UQMG starts:

1 - Load the last state you left UQMG in, that is the Default, because people like to turn UQMG off in IL-2 to save memory, if they have a lower end PC. That way you can come back to it, like in QMB and make changes.

2 - Always start with the System Default, which is the same as clicking the "Clear Settings" button in the main UQMG interface, above the grid.

3 - Use your own default. That is you create your optimal mission and it will always start with that mission.

What you need to do first to disable the "last mission" feature is to select "Enable/Disable Always Start with Last Mission" or Ctrl+L. Now go back to that menu and select what you want.

Does that help? Maybe you clicked on something by mistake and an undesirable mission is your default right now... just do a Ctrl+L to enable or disable that feature.

I am not familiar with Knights of the Sea...

A flight sim I imagine? It is hard to say. Fortunately IL-2 uses a very open source mission syntax code/programming/script language. Some flight sims are notoriously not friendly to 3rd party apps. For example, Jane's WW2 Fighters was friendly, and I am glad that Oleg took that open source approach for the mission format.

Otherwise programmers like me spend a lot of time figuring out what the mission syntax is. When the publishers make the missions in Binary format, it makes things a lot harder.

The Knights of the Sea is a New Game coming out from UBI that is centered around WW2 PT Boat's. It's still not finished yet... but it has a forum and web site already.
So far it's looking very Good and following the example of IL-2 in a Quality Product.

Now maybe I can go back to flying instead of programming... at least until the Murmansk map comes out... hopefully both Summer and Winter versions... would love to make some missions with the RAF there.

Who knows, looks like we may be getting to fly the awesome Pe-2s and hopefully Pe-3s as well in the future.

Oh, BTW, sopwithkennel... I'd love to be able to fly the Boomerang.

Thanks TX,

Again, I want to make sure people know that I do this for the passion, not the cash. I was impressed with IL-2 from the first time I heard about it. I remember when BlueByte in Austin, TX got acquired by UbiSoft and IL-2 then suddenly had a big time publisher outside of Russia. I think that IL-2 became sort of a part of my life. What can I say.

Again, I thank you all for the support.

I am getting re-acquainted with the Bf-109E-4... boy I really suck piloting the Emil... so I am creating some training missions in UQMG. Hopefully I'll get decent.

Good flying.
